Still no word....

Well guys it's now almost a week after I was expecting to own the new RX and still no word on when it's getting here from the dealer. All I've been told at the moment is 'a week or so'...

Sheesh I hate waiting...... None of you guys want to let me borrow an RX for the week or so do they??? :-)

You should be able to get a pretty good idea on date from the dealer. They showed me on the computer everything about mine, what day it got built, what the VIN number was, when it was due to leave port, what ship it was on, when it was due to be in port.

You deserve to be treated better than that.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Ask the for a print out from the "MAGIC" system. mazda automated..blah blah.

then go to www.portofmelbourne.com.au and track your ships arrival/departure. i was almost able to predict the phone call to pick it up using those sites. sydnetports also has good tracking.

My understanding is that cars are offloaded in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne only but its worth checking ... be direct in asking your local dealer for the info. your dealer delivery fee and 50% of any accessories goes straight to teir bottoom line so you are paying for royal treatment and remember Persistence pays. Failing that, call HO and ask for Malcolm Gough!!

know exactly how you felt mate.

my was pretty easy. walked into the dealership, saw a brand spanking new black one, found out that one of my mates whom i have catch up for a long time works there, sorted out my trade in and took deliver of that black rx-8 not long after!

oh, received the mazda rx-8 pack in the mail today, pretty impressive, but the t-shirt was one size too small....d'oh!

I guess I had it easy too.

I ordered mine on the 9th Jan (after 3 or 4 weeks comparing RX8 with Monaro and BMW 325CI). Told a red one was due early Jan, and titanium grey early Feb. Both had red/black leather and my choice was out of these two. Decided on the velocity red on 12th Jan and took delivery the day it was announced COTY, 20th Jan.

Yesterday, grouse drive along Great Ocean Road, one of the most entertaining and picturesque drives in Australia, after 7.30 pm, no traffic and clear road all the way.. what a hoot! I love this car already.

TOO SMALL? I'll trade you. Unless your a BIG BIG boy who eats lots of goodness then your shirt must be a small. Mine is medium and way too big for me. never worn it. ever!

Honestly, i'll trade you.

swap body sizes in pm and see if we can find the perfect match ?

Thanks Hymee. My dealer is telling me that the car is built and on the ship, but he reckons that he can't tell me the VIN and when it's due in port - he was telling me that as soon as he gets a port date it's here... I've had the feeling that they aren't being completely honest with me so should I hit him up for the VIN or something?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah the port for us is Brisbane. Does the Brisbane port have a website or something like that where you can find out the eta of a cargo ship?? :-)

Seems a bit odd to me that I've had to wait this long when I had the RX on order since ealy-mid Decemeber, but I guess thems the breaks sometimes, right...

Messix,

Do you know if you are getting a 2004 build and complied car. I ordered my car in Early December, expecting to see it in early February. But I wanted 2004, so i knew i would have to wait. It sounds like you may be in the same boat. I bought mine from my brother and he gave me a printout the other day, on the printout it shows the production date, when the boat left, which was the 20th of this month and estimated eta, which is the 6th of Feb. It also tells me what ship the car is on. Oh and i forgot to say it gives me the vin no and engine no and so forth. So for your dealer to say he cant give you this info till the ship arrives, thats not correct. It sounds to me that he cant be bothered to find out and is fobbing you off a little.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Dale.

haha kas,
medium wont fit me....... im a big boy. told the mazda people to send me a XL one a week of my delivery (one week b4 x'mas) and thought it would be plenty, but was wrong. it is only a bit uncomfrortable, maybe it is new and the neck area is abit tight. have to blame on those yummy x'mas/new year & chinese new year food :D :D :D
wore it today, it actually fit well, just a bit tight around the neck area, but it will stretch out i hope.....

Dale a brede,
you might have to wait for a bit longer if you want 2004 built 8. my came in early december 2003 and was delivered to me on the 16th december. my 8 was built in july 2003 and complied august...... and got to aussie showroom in dec 2003.

anyway drove past AMR mazda on parra road last week, and saw a silver 8 in the showroom, damn, that thing looked awsome!

What is the design of your T-shirt

I had mine during pre order sale test drive @ Mallala race way. I had one that is grey with renesis logo sort of at the side. Is this the same one as yours?

Ezzy,

My car was built on the 9th of jan 2004 and will be complied in Feb due to arrive on the 6th of Feb. I would say messix is going to be the same.

Yeah must have Mazda HQ pushing to get as many out in the traffic as possible. Saying that the dealer had this vehicle on order since August but was always due to be built in Jan 2004. It was part of their initial allocation. Just happened to be the spec i wanted.

Ezzy, Hope your 8 is Great anyway.

spot on Dale!

Had a chat with the dealer yesterda (actually, not really a chat, I kinda went off at them a little for not being honest about anything). Anyways, mine is going to be in Aust. on the 6th of Feb. So atleast I'll have the 2004 compliance plates.

Not that I'm overly winging or anything. I'm generally an extremely patient guy, but when the dealer is telling me that your car will be here on the 21st, then tells me it's the 28th and lastly the 6th I do tend to wonder if he's got any idea at all.... If he had've just been honest from the offset I wouldn't have been angry at all.

oh well. nothing to do now except wait..

Re: Still no word....

There is black one with red leather pack in stock in Mackay - I think they'd do you a good deal if you wanted that colour.

If you are interested let me know and I'll phone them for you - the plate should be 01/04 since it came in a few days after my car.

Im glad you sorted it out Messix, at least you know that it will be here soon for sure. Looks likely your car was in the same build cycle as mine, so not only do you get 2004 compliance but you will get 2004 build, like mine, will help with resale down the track, so worth the wait a little longer, but glad you sorted your dealer out, i am a dealer too and that sort of thing really annoys me, i am constantly reminding my staff that once they have done a deal with a customer that their work has only begun because it is the after sales service that will count. Im sure you will love the car anyway.

thanks deano but I'll be right. I'm reasonably sure the guys at the dealer will come through this time though. of course, if they don't I'm going to be extremely annoyed...
