Some of the better oils are..??
Hi Guys,
Just waned to know your thoughts on choice....brands and various models/ratings and so forth for oil in the rx8......
Also if you play with the addition of a turbo kit (ie rotor masters stage 1 kit for example), does oil choice matter... and if so, what are some good brands/choices for such a setup...
Thanks all...
:D

..........? I have no experience in Turbo charged cars. Rx7 all use mineral based oil although I have numerous Japanese mod shop develop 100% synthetic oil 5W-40 to even the RX-7s ... not to mention RX-8s.
Nearly all of us still use the Mazda Rotary Oil which is mineral base. I think by Turboing the car will not change the oil used. Agree? RIC SHAW? Hymee? L&L?

daz,
As they say, 'search' is your friend. The topic of oil has been addressed fairly extensively here and in other parts of the forum, with a fair degree of fact, opinion... and a touch of religion
The general rule is to use mineral-based oils in rotary engines; it is ok to use a synthetic in the Renesis as it now stands (ie, without a turbo) but the Mazda approved oil is a mineral based oil.
For high performance, I recall Ric Shaw had some advice link here. Given he races rotaries in Australia, I would take this as advice based on experience.

And the other rule of thumb is - "There are more myths about oils than there are about sex." Just to confuse the issue. My dealer put the Mazda Rotary Oil in at my last service.
Cheers,
Hymee.
