I think that its interesting and I wanted to see if there were other commonalities apart from the fact that we all owned Rx8's.
As it turns out, a lot of us are in the IT industry.
I couldnt really find out this info I was to ask around at a cruise.....it would seem ...erm wierd.
In fact I think I can tell a lot more about people via their "joke" responses than if they were to answer with the truth.

Real Estate Broker/Firm Exec/Developer here, I used to drive a benz ml430 that was a write off for business, now it sits in the garage. It does not compare to the 8! I fart in the general direction of benz now!

And you're probably right about the j/k responses! :D
You'd be surprised how much you find out about people on a cruise though if you're prepared to have a chinwag.

I'm not too sure about there being loads of IT guys, everyone seems to be a motoring guru of some sort. :D :D :D
I've learned more about cars in general on this forum (unless you're all just winging it) than anywhere else.
It's also great crack!

Unfortunately I won't be able to cross the Nullarbor for the Nationals and a good glass of red or two.... sigh.... so I'll have to bore you all with my life story here.
I live off the (moral) earnings of a woman.
True.
For the last 12 years I've been a househusband/carer/teacher and my wife works. This was more by accident than design, but it seems to work well for us.
I was originally a "Motor Engineer" - i.e. 3 year full time Engineering course designed primarily for the management side of the motor industry. Among other jobs, I worked for International Harvester for some years, ending up as area manager for Western Queensland.
Other careers since included Graphic Design (founding partner in a Melbourne business), IT ("Computer Consultant" in the very early days of PCs, when all you needed was the ability to read manuals and a bit of nerve!) etc.
I also did a fair bit of building and renovating, culminating in designing and building our house as a solo project (except the electrical wiring and copper plumbing which I was not allowed to do by law).
When that was finished and our son was born I took over looking after him - temporarily I thought....
Unfortunately he turned out to be intellectually disabled (autism and other difficulties) so it was a longer and much tougher job than I'd bargained for. He couldn't talk (no speech at all until age six) and had numerous problems I won't bore you with.
So I've been somewhat "confined to barracks" home schooling him and generally running the house. He's still struggling hugely but I've taught him to read and write, and his speech is now quite reasonable, although very 'concrete' and with very little abstract understanding. Next year he should be going to a special Ed dept at the local High School, so some freedom for Dad at last... :D
If this sounds too grim see attached pic of the "lion" I'm trying to tame!
And please feel free to drop in for a visit. Chateau BVD
Click on the "Building the House" link for a long series of pictures detailing the building project.

I find it quite funny, real estate people often have their expensive cars showing off directly in front of the premises that are open for inspection, almost a status type symbol.
Whereas me and a lot of my colleagues in the medical and dental professions drive ordinary cars to work for fear of patients making preconceived ideas if they see expensive cars in the staff car park.

I agree with Revolver, great post. So not everyone are comedians!
.............the house that jack built, looks great.
So we'll be seeing the girlie yellow around Perth more often next year then! :D
Let us know the next time you go to the Wanneroo raceway (I'm new in Perth) and we can get a Perth RX-8 meet and greet going. I only know one other 8 owner here in Perth (I met him last week),...... and as the twisted gods would have it, the sick son-of-a-*$#@ has the same one as me.

I work in the movies as a stuntman (martial arts, wirework, acrobatics, etc), but I also trade stocks, and do a bit of video editing.
Glad to be on this board, I just bought my RX-8 a couple weeks ago, and joined this board last week. So far everyone has been cool, and the posts are realy helpful.
