Question service km or months

I just had what I thought was my 12 month service. they did a 10k/6 month service again?
I have 3 stamps on the 6 month/10k service in my warranty book now worst of all the 10k service looks like it was done late at 11k now! so when I go to sell the car I'm going to have hassles explaining why it looks that way.

I was under the impression the car should be serviced at 6 months or 10k whichever came first. I'm at 12 months so shouldn't I have the 12 month service done even if I have only done 11k?

Geez, I've had my car since October 2003 and only done 4500km. Just got a service reminder from Paradise Mazda in Adelaide, these guys must be dumb since I had asked them to take me off their database after a run in with one of their smart **** salesmen and they've been in touch with me twice since.

Anyway time to find another place to get a service.

Maybe the fact that the warranty book only has entries every 10,000km and not every 6 months is telling you the answer.

I service my cars based on the km, but that being said I usually do 10,000km every six months or so anyway.

we must have a diferent book. mine has 10k/6month entries up to 200k/120months.

it's fine to do the service per km traveled for most things but what about brake fluid which absorbs water. if I follow the dealers recomendation it will be in the car for an extra year and will have a much lower B.P than fresh fluid.

I should get mazdas official comment today on what service I should do when.

My rule of thumb -- whichever comes earlier -- 10,000ks or 6 mths. Actually I do an interim oil change every 5,000k, but I probably wouldn't do that if I wasn't doing so many k's

I've found you have to be very explicit as to what you want - e.g. ask for a 12 month/x km service if that is what you want... don't rely on the dealer to pick it for you. I've done 15k kms since I got the car so I service mine every 6 months or so - if I did it every 1000k's I would have had my first service only after about a year.

well the guy at mazda reckoned that the 10k service would be fine at 12 months.
the 10k and 20k service are the same inspections and replaecments so they are the same. it just anoys me that now I have to check to make sure the time dependent things like brake fluid are changed on time.

Well, I'm up for my 10k service this Saturday and I've only had the car since December.

I have your problem. I enjoy driving the car so much I spend all my time looking for any excuse to get in and drive. 16000km since End of October, although I am now forcing myself to ease up a little
