I've had a look on DSE but to be honest it's been almost 20 years since I had any interest or real use in radio comms.
I intend to come (bringing the kids).....so long as my broken toe (collected on Xmas by kicking a chair - whilst sober) has healed enough to allow me to drive my '8.

I just did a reccy for one section of the cruise I hadn't been on before. Discovered during a carefull map examination. Even my mate the cruise guru didn't know of the road.
At this stage, I plan on making the lunch stop at Kilcoy, so there will be plenty of ammenities.
Cheers,
Hymee.

Just to make it easy for any last minute decisions:
We're meeting at 10:30am at the Shell Service Station at Nudgee (on the northbound side of the Gateway motorway). We'll be heading north, stopping for lunch at Kilcoy.
Bring:
A vehicle with a tank full of fuel (or fill up at the Shell)
Topped up oil - (or bring some top up oil and check at the Shell)
A UHF radio if you have one
Some lunch or some money to buy lunch.

I have seen that servo. Is there an exit for it if you are comming from the north ( ie on the southbound side of the motorway)
I look forward to meeting up with everyone. The last outing was great fun and this one should be even better.
I also look forward to getting an update from Hymee on the supercharger project.

Wow - triple post by skc - he must be really grateful :p
Look forward to meeting everyone tomorrow.
Pre-flight checks underway
Checked oil - at max level (don't have top up but may pick some up on way to meet up)
Filed up my tank today - 92.4c for BP Ultimate (quite happy with that price)
Checked tire pressure
Setup portable DVD player in rear of car - for 4 year old son
Setup Gameboy Advance charger in front for 9 year old daughter
Stocked up on sweets
Charged batteries for digital camera
Swapped cars round so my wife has to take hers to work tomorrow - she's been driving the '8 for the last few days whilst I've been with the kids.

Hymee once again proved to be an outstanding route selector. Then he put his driving future on the line and led the eight 8s (plus a Porsche visitor) on some of
SEQ's most interesting roads.
It was great meeting up with you all again. We'll have to do this more often!
Special thanks to Hymee and to SCO for suggesting the cruise.
Cheers.

Some thoughts after my first RX-8 Cruise.
Well it was certainly the hardest I've pushed the my '8 (and myself). Nice to know the car is up to it - even if I need a lot more work to get my skill and familiarity levels up.
Certainly plenty of twisty bit to keep the drivers occupied. Although I know my two rear seat occupants were none too impressed by them.
Not sure "cruise" is an accurate description for some of the stages. I am physically quite tired after negotiating Mt Mee and Mt Glorious. Apologies to whoever was behind me on the Mt Glorious leg - a combination of complaints from the other occupants, as well as some driver error lead to a couple of "Oh Sh*t!" moments and a few narrow misses on the barriers with resulting sudden braking. :o
Got the feeling that Hymee & Sco weren't pushing their limits but kindly waiting for some of us.
Generally the sightseers (esp at Kilcoy) and other road users were friendly and accomodating - notable exception being the White Corolla with delusions of grandeur that interrupted my overtaking
A more positive memorable moment was the Porsche overtaking a number of us on one long straight.
Not having an UHF radio meant I missed out on Radio Hymee (how does one drive and communicate with a hand held?) - on the agenda for a purchase prior to next cruise.
All-in-all a good fun day out.
It was nice to meet up with you all.
Cheers to Hymee (nice plates btw) and Sco for the organisation and logistics & to Chris for being back marker.
ps I'll post more pictures later.

rev it up
Thanks sco and Hymee for another memorable cruise day. The route was awesome.
With the exception of the crawling start on the Bruce Highway and the last downhill leg into Samford we had a clear run most of the way. This enabled us to exersice some spirited driving.
It was also good to catch up with with some familiar faces as well as meet some of the first timers.
I would also like to thank everyone for welcoming David in his Porsche 911. It seemed to handle the twisty bits and the straights with ease....awesome car.
At the end of the trip my airbag warning light came on. I will get this checked out at the dealers. Thanks Hymee and sco for having a go at trying to find the problem with your scan tool. The display on the scan tool is amazing...a great tool sor the enthusists.
The car handled well and the family took things well, even though they got tossed around the car. I also forgot to pump up my tires to 40 psi so the car felt slightly sloppy.
Cheers
