Ha, and I thought nitrous oxide was N2O. But then, I'm only a chemist...... BTW, what about the combustion products? I'd imagine that the N2O oxidizes to NOx (mixed nitric oxides). How does the catlytic converter like being hit with that load. How is the nitrous oxide fed to the motor?
Frankly, it sounds like good warranty-busting stuff to me. Anyway, I reckon that the combination of RX-8, premium unleaded and me will keep the Qld Dept of Transport in speeding violation revenue for years to come (that's if I don't run out f points).

Touch wood, I'm behaving myself and haven't even been pulled over for a breathalyser yet... I see nothing in the law that says you can't go round corners fast :D

Erm..
On a more serious note [ thats rich comming from me I guess ]..
My engine makes a very different "rattling" like sound when it's sitting in neutral idling, as apposed to neutral with the clutch pedal depressed, or in gear with the pedal depressed, where it makes a fairly nice sound ( is it possible for a sound to be "more solid" ? ).
I first thought that it wasn't something too different, but I swear the more I listen for it, the more I'm certain that it's a distinctly different sound. Could be normal, I just haven't heard any other RX8 engines, yet ( when is that next bloody Sydney gathering anyway ).
Anyone else get this?
Try and listen to your engine from out side the cockpit, as it's not really noticable from inside the car.. so much as it is inside the car.

Dez,
Do a search for throwout bearing... you'll find others talking about this... and it is normal. Mine makes this noise when cold and the stick is in neutral with the clutch pedal out.
