Talking Zoom Zoom

Picked mine up 45 minutes ago. Had to drive straight back to work as the pickup took too long.

Absolutely paranoid about every car that even approached me.

Didn't get a chance to open her up - just trying to nurse her along and find the sweet spot for clutch and gear changes.

5000 RPM comes up way to quickly. 60km/h feels like stationary.

I'll post pictures tonight.

Might I suggest putting on a few coats of "Meguiars Gold Class Wax" on the fresh paint?
It really deepens the blue and brings out the mica particles.

No mica in this paint mate....it's a straight metallic.

On my list of things to do - I transferred my plates straight over from the SP20 so no time to change when picking up from the dealer.

Do you cut down the US size holder, remove entirely or replace with a slim plate sized one?

Congrats Tonym on getting a Winning Blue - another for the Central Coast. Did you have the blue plates on your Titanium ? - just that they looked like they might be coloured from the photos of the wreck. The RTA blue are an almost exact match for the car colour.

I have never seen an RX-8 in the flesh with anything but a leather interior.

How true that most dealers will say anything to get you back into the showroom - slightly related to that - my sister was in the Gosford Mazda showroom the other day after test driving a Mazda 6 and the dealer said 'that ALL their cars are front wheel drive - even the RX-8' and they were sitting only a few metres from a red one.
She knew this was crap as she has ours to compare. So has Gosford got the only front wheel drive RX-8 in the world ???

Regards
Jeffneil

No disrespect Jeff but your sister would have a higher probability of being wrong in her explanation to you than the dealer would in theirs to her. As much as "she thought" she would have heard it that way, its too hard to swallow when you know the facts.

For starters, Gosford Mazda would have the highest level of RX-8 sales training of any dealership in Australia. All sales reps are fully informed on the RX-8 with regular educational classes by one of the best in the Mazda Australia arena.

They are given demonstrations on the inner workings of the RX-8s aswell as attending all the track days that Mazda Australia cater for.

Each sales rep is individually tested on their own level of competance regularly & any drop in knowledge is catered to with complete re-explanation of the facts. All this education is done free of charge & as a personal favour to ensure the customer is well informed. This is a behind the scenes education done by one man that is always on your side.

Not only does he do all this but he looks after you all with the best price on parts you can get, not because he has to but because its his nature to "want to".

Think hard before you say anything after this, think about this level of loyality & the invisible wealth we all recieve from this man.

Who is he.........???

Darrin Ray............... Gosford Mazda

A mica has mica in it...a metallic has silver in it. Ezzy may be able to elaborate further on the benefits of each/differences between the two.

I think Jeff was just stating what he heard and unless his sisters talking crap to him, then theres no false in what Gosford mazda have said...RX8's are front wheel drives...

Greetings All,

Well I was just repeating what my sister was told - and my father was with her on the day (sitting right beside her) and also knows full well what wheels drive the RX-8 !

It was probably just a throw away comment but one so easily disputed so why bother?

I don't know which person told her (nor do I particularly care) - but I believe the comment to be true as they will say anything to keep talking sometimes - we ALL know people like that don't we ? Not just car salespeople either....

Darren Ray is in the Service Dept isn't he - not a salesman so he wouldn't have been there.

The only time I have ever dealt with Gosford Mazda was about 5 years ago when we were looking at buying a new 323 and found the staff AT THAT TIME to be rather lacklustre.

They now have a red and a silver in the showroom in case anyone wants to do a deal ! Perhaps they are both front wheel drive :-)

Regards
Jeffneil

By all accounts, Darrin is a good bloke ... but one swallow does not a summer make.... and unfortunately I have experienced enough sales staff (not just cars) who NEVER listen, no matter who is talking to them (or instructing them) with the result you hear them speaking absolute crap. It can be very embarassing when you have to follow them .... eg, to implement the software they sold.... .. which apparently, among other featrues, will turn lead into gold....

Anyway, back on topic. Gosh those new owners have gone quiet haven't they? Wonder what they're doing this weekend .... mowing the lawn .... rearranging the sock drawer.... ??? :D :D

Is your part of Australia sunny this weekend?

Victoria is unusually wet this week. I could be all wet walking from the car to pay for my petrol. :D
