new tyre flat

After been waitin for few months for my wheels n tires n they finally here. i quickly had them installed last week in Beaurepairs south melbourne branch. im using Pirelli pzero nero tires btw and by only had them on a week its flat which is very weird coz all tires r brand new.

So i quickly bring my car to the nearest tyre shop and i thought its only a normal puncture and thought can hav it fix straight away. well cut the story short, the shop found out that the tyre flat is bcoz there's a damage on the inside part of the tyre (which is happen bcoz Beaurepairs unprofessionally install my tyres by not using a proper machine and using tools instead to force fit it in). there's another prove which are all the small scratches in the inner part of my wheel as well. coz of this small damage they did cause the air leakin out bit by bit which i din realise and when i did its flat already. n now the tyres no longer can be use

Then I went back to Beaurepairs and talk to the manager about this issues and they seems like avoiding from their responsibility by sayin the damage can b done by other shop when takin the tyres off, or the way i driving cause this problem, but in fact there's no puncture at all means its the damage they did cause the flat.
They said they only willing to return the money i installed the tyre last time which is ridiculous. n i told them tat im not askin to pay the whole tyre themself n i suggest that both me and them share to pay another tyre to replace this one coz no one expect this to b happen but they don't want to.

My question is:
What should i do in this situation?
coz im thinkin to send a letter to consumer affair but afraid in the end i wont get nothin and waste my time only. i personally order a new one to have it replace already.

Strange I thought they can claim as manufacturer return. Are those tyres imported?

The best is to keep hassling them for it and call the distributor and name that retailer with them. Forcing the issue beyond a human error. It could be a tyre error could it?

I don't know what to say beyond that. I will contact customer affair, just a phone call away.

Damn dude, that must really suck!

Question: Did you purchase the tyres from them as well? If you have, then you should be okay.

Most Beaurepairs stores are franchises so the you might want to politely go in again and ask to speak to the manager, if not, the store owner. Explain exactly what happened and tell them that you've spoken to several tyre places (Jax, Bridgestone etc) and they've all agreed that what happened was not normal. If the store owner does not budge, tell him you'll be in touch with the head office and walk out.

Next step would be to call their head office and speak to a Customer Liasion Officer. Again, explain exactly what happened clearly. Tell them you were unhappy with the way that particular store is handling the issue and tell them you will be in touch with the Office of Fair Trading if the matter is not resolved. I'm sure they will sort out the situation very quickly.

If you did not purchase the tyre from Beaurepairs and merely used them to do the install, then unfortunately, it would be hard to prove that their installation was flawed and I'm afraid the Office of Fair Trading wouldnt be able to do much to help you.

I bought the tyres from Tempe tyres sydney, so i just went there to fit in the tyres. i did talk with the manager about this and like i said they keep saying its not their fault.
And if really they think they're not guilty, why even they want to return the installation money in the first place. coz i still remember i saw 4 guys were fitting my tyres that time and take 2.30 hours. coz it suppose to be 1 hour job with the proper machine.

now my biggest problem is i lost my invoice ..

Aah.

I seriously doubt they would admit to a faulty installation. I'm pretty sure they will maintain that the tyre was defective and they will probably direct you to Tempe Tyres regarding it.

And if really they think they're not guilty, why even they want to return the installation money in the first place.
Its just a hunch, but I think the reason why they're willing to refund the installation money (while not necessarily admitting guilt) is because they'd rather end the situation without having you coming over to them thus potentially losing new clients who may notice you complaining etc. Most franchise owners would rather end the situation there and then without the customer making a complaint to head office etc. Its usually bad rep for the store owners and when complaints like this accumulate over time, it can hinder their chances of getting approved for another store should they want to expand.

Anyway, since Tempe Tyres will claim a faulty installation, and Beaurepairs will claim a faulty tyre, you're basically in the middle without much footing on either side. If you were in Sydney, (which you're not) I would have recommended you visit Tempe as they're usually good (if you know them) with these sorts of things. I've had chromies exchanged, replaced with minimal hassles.

Hopefully someone else here be able to provide you with more options. Good luck

/note to self:
if I'm going to get expensive tyres, I'll make sure they do the installation for me.

You have made it harder for yourself by splitting the retailer from the installer.

However, if the nature of the damage to the tyre is clearly post-manufacture and of the kind caused by improper installation and the tyres had not been fitted before, I would continue to pursue the installer using the methods kunz has suggested.

Be firm but polite and continue pursuing the issue with both the franchisee, head office and the Victorian version of the Office of Fair Trading until you get some satisfaction.

The attempted buyoff is common because most people accept it rather than pursue an uncertain claim. However, this is precisely why these kind of shops never lift their game - nobody forces them to pay for their mistakes.

BTW, 2.30 hours to fit tyres is silly. When I purchased my new rims and rubber they had them installed in about 30-40 minutes.

I wouldn't let them get away with this. As others have mentioned. Pursue them and don't accept their crap excuses. God even I can strip and fit a tyre quicker than that. The timeframe only makes me more suspicious that they didn't know what they were doing.

Good luck. Maintain the rage as I say..don't accept mediocrity as it will become the norm.

Good on you. He wouldn't be losing his temper if he was so sure of himself.

Keep up the pressure.
