And a quick search shows two threads on the topic, conclusive senses dictates compression is all that matters as any 2004-2005 will have all TSB's preformed already.

Now let me know when those actual facts of yours arrive.

wow. you really aren't getting it are you Carbon8? Unfortunately I only speak and type in English so I'm not sure you will ever understand this, but just in case you're slow, let me say once again. I made no claim of facts. I did not bring up facts. I have stated numerous times everything i say is my personal opinions based solely on my own experiences and research.

Did you catch it that time. ? Opinion .. would you like a definition of the word?

I could state the differences between the 04-05's and the newer models, but I see no point because it is obvious that you think you know everything there is to know. However, there were many parts that these early years had that were faulty by design or simply inadequate. Why do you think there was such a long list of repairs that they needed. If it were only the starter and flash that needed to be upgraded those would be the only TSB's and recalls.

I must also point out that your claim that "ANY 2004-2005 will have ALL TSB's preformed already" is simply ridiculous. First of all, I would like to know what repairs are preformed? I only know of them being performed. Secondly I am curious, do you honestly believe that every single person that bought a new or used 2004-2005 RX8 was aware of all recalls? Do you think they were aware of every single TSB that was issued ? Most common people that are not mechanically inclined don't even know what a TSB is. There are still people that don't even find it important to change their oil, so why would I believe that they made sure to have all the repairs preformed. oh, i mean performed.

And once again in case you haven't noticed, for someone that constantly brings up where are my facts, when I have continuously stated only my opinions I find it very funny that so far the only thing I have seen you state are the same. your opinions. you claim to have stated facts unlike me, yet in all reality all you have done is give your opinions. Either way continuing to debate this with you is a complete waste of time. I would have more interesting conversation with a brick wall. I did not post here to argue with someone that is convinced he knows everything there is to know about rx8's, I only posted here to offer an opinion to someone that is considering purchasing one and asked for some feedback .

You write a lot for someone not trying to debate, regardless OP there are the answers to your questions above. But this whole thread is mute as buying a car based on year is asinine if your aren't going to take all the other variables into consideration. As I have had a 2005 and 2004 RX-8 and my 04 is in every way better than the 05 was.

Consider all variables before purchase, not just what year.

2004 - 1st year, just try to avoid if financially able
2005 - not much change, bug worked out?
2006 - screens installed? ( no need to custom install racing beat screens)
2007-2008, err i have no clue, but i doubt much change that you can't change yourself.

engine is not changing untill 09 comes out, which is just that additional oil injectors put in.

how funny.. this thread you posted in some effort to be right about everything, In the very first sentence of the very first reply is saying the same thing I said that got your undies all bunched up to begin with.. maybe you should go argue with this guy too. maybe you can convince him that you are the only person that knows anything and everyone else is wrong.

Read the entire thread before you reply, you won't sound so ignorant, on that note I'm walking away from this thread. You can't educate the unwilling. Even when facts are presented opinions apparently prevail you clearly know more than Mazda about the details.

Good luck OP

I write alot, because I don't mind a good debate. but the problem is, that requires the involved people to pay attention and consider what the other is saying.

I will. I just thought it was funny that it said that. As for sounding ignorant, I have no worries or concern for you thinking that. I am pretty surprised you know how to spell it though.

finished. i'm guessing what ever point you were hoping to make was in a different thread because that one mostly supported my opinion. that number one, 04's can be a money pit. and the oil metering system and pump were to be upgraded in 08 or 09's. hmmm..? wonder if that might have something to do with the fact that mazda had to replace all them engine's in earlier models.. nah, it's probably just coincidence.

hey carbon8, i have a brilliant idea.. instead of wasting all this time discussing/debating/arguing over this bs. . how about you read my post concerning the P0661 and P2259 codes and let me put your know it all to good use. that would make for a much better use of this forum. What do ya say?

I would love to hear your opinion about how they are any way near the same quality.
"The proof is in the pudding" I deal with the largest volume Mazda dealership on the east coast (it has held this title since the first RX7s) (their name shall remain secret here so they don't get harassed) The service manager there, a close friend of mine, tells me that in all their years of RX8 sales they have had 95% of all their engine failures and engine reman work orders come from 2004-2005 models; 5% from early 2006 models and NONE yet from any late 2006-2012 models they sold. Also other warranty services ,adjustments and upgrades to oil metering pumps, starters, cooling systems, transmissions, water in headlights and taillights, clutch adjustments, etc. have come mainly from 2004- early 2006 models. Their RX8 owners of late 2006 models through 2012 models who have religiously followed maintenance schedules and proper operating procedures have had few problems. This dealership offers new car owners free oil changes for life, so that is one no-brainer way to keep on top of that issue. And they also had an 8yr, 100,000 powertrain service warranty on the new RX8s they sold, even before Mazda retroactively put an 8yr 100,000 mile engine warranty on all 2004-2008 RX8 engines.
