My car isn't flashed yet and probably won't be until May. I'm going to do some "before" analysis and some "after" analysis on the fuel map and acceleration and see if I can spot any differences.

Edit: When I said "fuel map" I meant that I'll be looking at at the Wideband O2 readings and a bunch of other parameters to take a guess at the fuel map.

^^^^^^^^^ Yeah - what he said I think that is what I was trying to say, but better put.

Hopefully by May you will be testing a RX8 with a Twin Screw Supercharger that the Hymster and Dr Phil are still .......................... working on and not merely a fuel map.

cheers

Cortc

Posted his observations on their N flash in the US , could be similar to our H flash ??

Had my car flashed on Saturday to N from M...

I was with the tech when he did the flash and there where a few things listed under what it fixes/adjusts on the computer...

1) Idle is very smooth now
2) Better throttle response in lower RPMs
3) Smoother power delivery
4) A slight change in the sound under load at lower RPMs
5) A bit more power in the low RPMs

Looks like they may be getting it right...

My car is over a year old and has had the 1K and 10K services with no re-flash (as far as I can tell).

Am I right in assuming it is two or more editions behind the currently available update?

If so, can you jump straight to the newest one or do you need to run the car for a period with each intervening update?

I hope that makes sense to someone.

AFAIK Flashes don't need to be upgraded i.e. you can put a G flash on top of an E or F flash.

If you have no flashes, your original flash version will be on a sticker on your PCM

Yep, I don't think it's like a windows update. The new flash replaces the previous flash entirely.

Edit: I went straight from 'D' to 'G'. I skipped 'E'.

Please explain.

Powertrain Control Module - the engine computer. Sorry for the TLA

It's on the right hand side of your engine bay with a plastic cover on it - there will probably be a sticker on it with the version number - something like N3J6-18881-E (where "E" is the flash version).

Ok I've searched and searched and apparently didn't search hard enough and got sick of searching.

I'm looking for the thread that will show me how to tell what flash I have. Just brought the car back from the dealer after they say they flashed it. How do I tell.
This is what was on my invoice:

Customer Reports: RECALL- MSP04 ENGINE NO START, LACK OF POWER
Work performed by Paul ****
PERFORMED RECALL MSP04
XX658XRX 0.3

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Brian

Get a sCANalyser, and it tells you.

Oops - we better hurry up and release it. :D

Cheers,
Hymee.

That's pretty much the only way to read it yourself. Otherwise you have to ask the dealer.

It should start with something like N3ZKE0...... or N3J618.....
