New ECU flash available

Guys,

I have deleted the 'I' flash thread. I think I am wrong about that one. I had another look over the old flash threads and also got the Cal ID from my sCANalyser. I think the new flash I have is the 'H' flash, not the 'I' flash.

In the past, the flash ID has looked like:

N3J6-18881-E, or
N3J6-18881-G

The service guy wrote down my new flash as:

N3ZK-18881

....really helpful, thanks. I thought the '1' must have been an 'I'. Cal ID from my sCANalyser gave me this:

N3ZKE000013H6050

So it looks like an 'H' flash to me. How does this compare with guys who have the 'G' flash?

Of note, the N3J6 that seemed to be representative of Australian RX-8's seems to have been replaced with N3ZK.

Is that mean I have H flash too?????

CalID = N3J6EG00013H6050

I have tested boyboydan's car and after the "E" it was an "F" so I think he was a F flash.

Gee I like wireless. I am sending this from my garage.

Wow - this is interesting. We need to know for sure how the numbering system works.

Hi Guys. I am taking my car in tomorrow for its 1000k service. Is the Flash upgrade something the service dept would just do? or should I ask for it?

I have had it for a month now so what flash rev' would you expect it to have?

There's no harm in asking the Service Manager if he's received any updates for your car. He should know if the dealership updated the software/firmware on your car prior to delivery. If they didn't and they have a new update now, asking nicely will put you up front on the grid!!

We don't have the situation here that the guys in the States have. Over there, Mazda are asking the dealers to update all cars prior to delivery, and are sending letters out to owners asking for them to bring their cars in. There are no service difficulties with the "G" flash that we're aware of, so I don't think the dealership is obliged to update cars as they see them. Unless something has changed recently.......

If you want the latest real bad, you could always pay for it!!!

Gomez.

The h flash feels slower than all the flashes... Like a dip in the power output.

You have the "G" flash as it is the sixth digit

When the paperwork at the dealership has no suffix it is because it would be impossible for the warranty folks to keep up with the updates so they always use the base part number.

Thats what me thinks.. :D

P.S.

I sent you the wiring scans for the fan controls...

I suppose your e-mail is not a Yahoo.com?

N3ZK....ZK is the prefix for Kiwi registered aircraft, as I'm sure you're aware!!

One good reason NOT to get this flash! Might be a Kiwi one......

My next service is not for another 8000km by then i hope to get some form of forced induction i would think that once my car is tuned to a particular flash the last thing i want to do is get a re-flash and mess up my tuning .

Once the car has forced induction i wont be using Mazda for any servicing , not even a basic grease and oil change . Unless the forced induction comes approved from Mazda , and we know there is very little chance of that happening :p

cheers

Yes, that thought had already crossed my mind. Any Kiwi's out there know your Cal ID? Maestro?

Don't be so quick to bag out the new flash guys. My car doesn't feel any slower. I can't say if it's better or not because I didn't drive it in the 3 weeks before the reflash.

I can't imagine that this flash is worse than the last one. Why would they bother if that was the case?

Well I am back from Max Kirwan with "the new flash". The guys had no idea what rev it was but they said there was one newer than the one I had (my car factory plated Dec 04). I am going to assume its the H flash...

My opinion is that it's definately better than what I had. MUCH smoother drive, much better low down (not that it is what i want, but it is better).

All they needed to do is go to the "mode 9" data while the WDS was hooked to the car...

Thats it!!! I'll never use that dealership!!

They might make Lock pay extra not to have his car flashed

Oh dear - to many inuendos when thinking about flashes (free or paid for) and Lock in the one sentence. Perhaps I'm just jealous my RX-8 has never generated an impromptu flash

Cheers,
Hymee.

Ahh but I never said I _wanted_ to go to MK's but it was the first service and I thought it would be a little rich turning up to another dealership and asking them to do it :D

In actual fact I was VERY dissapointed in them as a dealership, but he is a friend of a friend so thought I was getting a good deal.

I bought my last car there as well (SP20) and the first service on that was the last time I went there...for a 1 hr service that was supposed to be ready at 3pm took 4 hrs and my wife left at 5:30pm with 2 kids who had missed a friends BDay.

OK enough of my Rant

Needless to say, I am happy with the new Flash. Takahashi did I read somewhere that you have whats needed to check what rev I am running?

He sure does. It is called the sCANalyser and one of many of it's amazing functions is the ability to tell you what the "Calibration ID" is of the software running in the engine management system.

/shameless plug :D

Hymee.

Sure you are ...

I should be employed as a publicist for your sCANalyser since I have been to Hong Kong and Macau with it and now going up to Sydney to show the Sydney boy this piece of art.
