not all demo/manager's vehicles are all bad examples.... thought i'd mention that, so you know what you are looking at.

having warranty is one thing, but time & effort needed to get things fixed is another.... who wants to make trips to the service centre all the time. that would make your ownership less interesting.

from memory, one of the close friends with ozrenesis organisers/an ex-rx8 owner had a demo/manager's "special" and that thing was almost all troubles and not alot of pleasure.

thats all. will say no more.

it's similar to Shinka, except the black is black (not black cherry), and the seat has alcantra (suede) in the middle. There could be more differences, but those are the most obvious ones.

Shinka

For the non-Chinese, your profile wordings are quite offensive. I suggest you remove that.

Thank you all for your kind words of welcome. I certainly look forward to meeting all of you at the NAT's.

For those that are interested in the revelation package:

"Unique to the RX-8 Revelation is a smart keyless entry and engine start system, removing the need for a key to start the car. This is the first time Mazda has offered this technology in Australia. Foam filled cross members have also been included to improve ride, handling and improve NVH.

Interior comfort and aesthetic appeal is enhanced with a power sliding glass sunroof, chrome finish interior highlights including meter rings, leather trimmed parking brake lever, leather armrest console lids as well as a piano black finish on transmission tunnel and steering wheel bezel.

To match this exclusive car new owners will also receive a stylish Rotary Revelation watch, valued at $950, in either a luxurious men’s or elegant women’s style.

[note to myself - I should ask for this watch!!!]

As with range-topping RX-8 variants, the RX-8 Revelation will also boast High Intensity Discharge (Xenon) headlamps, a Bose premium sound system, power-operated driver’s seat, front fog lamps and drilled aluminium pedals. "

There you go.

BTW Being a self confessed geek/gismo freak, the keyless start absolutely fascinated me, similar to the system in the Lexus IS250.

Latest update; I'm still hunting around for good finance, lowest I got so far is 7.54% from the dealer (can you imaging that ?!! I thought it was pretty good) tomorrow I'll be trying ANZ, Esanda and a few finance brokers and maybe even sealing the deal.

BTW what are your opinions of finance brokers vs dealer finance vs banks?

Attendees at the inaugural Nats scored one of these watches. Something tells me Mazda can't get rid of them commercially. Mine's sitting in a drawer at home - the rotor shape isn't left hander friendly (i.e. not comfy on the right wrist).

As for finance, I've found in the past that dealer finance is pretty competitive in terms of the interest rate but some of the fine print can contain traps for the unwary. They're usually pretty inflexible products. And be careful of the finance houses like Esanda, etc. Make sure any rate you're offered is fixed and not floating.

I've occasionally wondered if those with a penchant for Asian characters are taking liberties.

Maybe we should have a translation thread to name, shame and generally laugh at how wankerish some of them are.

Have any said Crouching Kitty Hidden Lizard yet?

Well everybody, thanks for all the comments and advice. As of 5:00pm the Friday just passed I am the proud owner of a Black 06' Revelation. And yes I drove the car like a pansie!!

My mom saw the car late Friday night as she was arriving home and commented "Your said you were buying a 4 Door? What's this sports car!!! ? To which I simply replied by opening rear door. Stunned silence to follow.

Anyway, I've been driving the car today, slowly getting attuned to it. There is some jiggling happening in the boot which I think is some loose tools in the tool box. I find it kinda harsh over b grade roads (but I been driving my gf VW JEtta for the past 3 months) And there is significant road noise which I didn't really notice earlier. But overall I LOVE IT!! I probably don't need to say this but it is absolutely amazing through corners!!!!

I just have one more comment/question, the exhaust note. IMO it is sufficiently loud, however I would like it to have a deaper growling sound but I don't want it to be too loud. Will the hymee exhaust do this for me? And does having quad pipes influence the sound?

What's too loud is obviously subjective but IMHO the Hymee exhaust is a good compromise. Under 4K rpm it's reasonably muted, so when you're just tootling around the burbs, etc, it's quite liveable.

Best bet is to go to a cruise and try to listen to a few different options.

I don't think quad tips would influence the sound that much but perhaps the people with them should comment on that.

Congrats on the new car btw.

I have no complaints with Suncorp. I have used them for 10 years and finacned 5 vehicles (3 currently).
I think I am paying 8% on my 8 but they packaged up the insurance for $880pa which is way cheaper than any other quote I found.

Congtratulations on the arrival of the newest 8 to da family!!

Well done, look after the car as in the running in posts and I'm sure all will be fine.

As for the engine noise...it;s quiet as a mouse outside...it's just on the inside the car is noisy when you sink the boot in! I love that. Remember it will not be like your Jetta at all!!

The noise is normal and I hate to say it but wait till you do 10,000kms on your tyres and then you will know noise!! Arrgghhhh Crappy rubber!!

Looking forward to seeing the car at the Nats.

Like the keyless entry...new mini has it too in the Cooper s very cute!

Welcome abroad!

Enjoy it and you know where to go when you have a question about your 8.

Or simply want to redline it safely

Regarding the pricing that seems like a darn good deal. However I don;t know if anyone has noticed but the retail price of the RX8 leather pack is now $52990. IIRC when I bought mine it was over $57k so we're talking roughly $5k or about 10%. The pov pack is under $50k.

I wonder if those people who purchased at the old price will get some sort of compensation?

We won't get any compensation. It's sales (or marketing) strategy from Mazda, plus (according to them) it is because the AUD is getting stronger and stronger against JPY, so they can lower the price.

you're kidding right? its like when people buy at full retail and find out the someone else payed 5k less. You didnt have to pay what you did, it was your choice.

Go down to Coles and buy some apples for 10$/kg then go down the road and find them for 5$/kg at Green Grocers. COles wont be refunding you.

That's a really poor analogy. What we're talking about is Coles and Coles, not two different apples producers. Why would I be kidding? Vehicle manufacturers doing that (refunding customers who purchased X days before a price decrease) is not unheard of. In fact I would be demanding it if I had purchased a vehicle only to find out next week it was (as you have pointed out) $10k less than what I paid. If that's something you wouldn't do then more fool you.

Obviously will have a direct effect on second hand values as well. Glad I got rid of mine when I did a few weeks ago. Even happier with the price I got for my 04 model, pity about the purchaser

They can always argue that car is not the same fleet or whatever. Get ACCC involve I reckon, if you are that passionate about it.

I own the car too long to care about the original price. The petrol prices were 80cents and the yen was 65 yen to 1 dollar back then
