Nationals needs a convenor....and support!
So, it has become fairly obvious I won't be organising the Nats this year, so I am opening this thread to stir some discussion.
Do far, the date has been announced (3 & 4 October -- that 's the Tuesday & Wednesday after the October long weekend) and a tentative booking at Wakefield Park has been made.
Thereafter, it's up to whoever wants to take responsibility and those that will support.
So, off you go then....

Adrian - you obviously wish to be the new convenor. Congratulations.

If it wasn't for Timbo there would not have been a Nats to call successful..
A Sydney or even Canberra based organiser would be ideal due to the proximity to the venue and Timbo as has laid the foundation so it would be a matter of meeting up with Timbo to get the recipie.
As per the last nats each state should have its own contact person who organises each states participants.

We did that for Aug 14 (25 people and people keep asking). Register or not if it is fun - people will come. Last Honda Sport Car club track day, there were only 20 people turned up. For the money they have gathered. I AM SURE THEY HAVE MADE A LOST!

I agree with SKC, the person has to be close. If I were to live in Canberra, I would have taken the job; since I would have nothing to do otherwise
. But topping the mighty Timbo's effort is kind of hard.

For what it's worth, maybe with some guidance from Timbo we could allocate different tasks to different people and bring it all together like that.
I agree with Andrew, given the wonderful world of technology that we live in, surely it wouldn't be that hard to communicate and make it happen.

Just had a thought whilst posting on the .au sight.
In the abscence of anyone or a group of people putting their hands up to do the job, why don't we get an event organiser to put it all together?
I'm sure that with a brief by Timbo, someone else can do all the leg work.
Even it if costs us all a bit extra, I would rather pay more and have an event to go to rather than have nothing at all.
Timbo, what do you think?

Hmm, wasn't Timbo something of an event organiser in his dim distant past?
He's now a consultant...and we all know consultants will do anything for a fee.
Just thinking out loud here you understand...

This question was asked of Timbo on the .au site as well.
He just rolled his eyes. Whatever that means.

Look, I would do it:
a. if I had the time
b. for free
c. if I still had an 8 and it was relevant to me
The reason I rolled my eyes when this question was asked elsewhere was because the questioner seemed to think anyone will do anything for a price.....
Time is the biggest problem for me...and no-one can cover that
Of course, I am more than happy to help identify tasks etc...but, in my experience, these things really require someone to take charge.

My comments were tongue in cheek and I wasn't aware Timbo had been asked separately in the other place.
Shame he can't do it but I understand the reasons why.
As to some of the other comments about splitting tasks - that's fine but you still need a dictator, benelovent or otherwise, to make final decisions and keep everybody moving.
So one of you will need to put his hand up for the Top Banana role. Just think of the plaudits and accolades...

Rolling eyes or not, RX8 or not, you will always remain a LEGEND to those of us who attended last year.
We all understand and respect your reasons for not being able to do it again.
I think there is tension building because of the realisation that without you, there may not be a 2nd or even subsequent Nationals, which once again puts into perspective what a great job you did last year.
Cheers
