Motor goes to QLD International Raceway, '07 PCOTY (Round 1)

FYI, Taka's request ...

Motor took 1/2 a dozen cars or so to QLD International Raceway recently at part of the 1st round of PCOTY for 2007. The cars were 100% stock and they had Warren Luff (ie. pro driver) drive all the cars.

The time that they managed were:
- Z4 M Roadster = 1:03.62
- Boxster S = 1:03.96
- Audi RS4 Cabrio = 1:04.81
- BMW 335 Coupe = 1:05.15
- Audi TT V6 = 1:06.62

ps. Day was cut short by rain, so not sure how much hindrance that was, or/and how much quicker they could have gone if they had more dry time.

Interesting times. Any idea which circuit set up they used. Typically we use the sprint or clubman circuit configuration at Queensland raceway. Apart from this you also have the full circuit typically used for the V8 championship. From the times posted it appears that those lap times are on the sprint configuration.

The shorter circuits are more interesting and challenging.

The the best times for a RX 8 on the sprint is around 1:04 driven by Roxy 8

Roxy is in slicks right?

For those who are not sure what skc is about (different track at QIR).

They do have lots of variation in configurations

Sorry Roxys best time was 63 sec on semi slicks. My best was 65 on road tires.

FYI DBRX8 came in at 62 sec with this turboed beast...first time on this track last month. I am sure his times would have been a lot better with more track time.

They used the 'Clubman' configuration. From what I'm being told, this configuration is about 3sec slower than the 'Sprint' config.

In that case those times are very good for stock cars. It is amazing what a pro driver can do. Any way my best time for the clubman currently stands at 1:07.32 and improving. Turn 3 (the dipper)is very tricky because it dips down as well. It requires a slow approach. With DSC on you can approach at higher speeds but the car still complains as lot. Without DSC on it is very easy to spin the car...I have done this a couple of times.
