NZ Mad Midwinter Rotor Run - MMRR

Sunday 27th July

Start point is - 37 44 48.79 S 175 13 54.70 E at 9.00am

Go for Street View

Its time to start on another event and what could be better then a fun day out in the middle of winter.
We'll looking at the end of July for a day run around the central north island, starting in Hamilton.
I'm looking at running this event as a live setup, no bits of paper to look at, but you will need a smart phone or tablet etc, something with a GPS system anyway. My idea is to run it as a twitter feed, so you will probably need to have a twitter account.
I will give you a glue as to where you will have to go and it will be up to you to find your way there.
Now I know this sounds like a good way to get lost, but I will only give out enough info to get you all to the first point, and once everyone has made it to the meeting point, then the second glue will be given, and so on.
I've basically planned the route we will take and spoken to Brettus about it, and it looks like a good day drive.
So start planning and getting your car ready.

Rotaman

Things you will need on the day

1) Full tank of fuel
2) at least 2 people in your car
3) GPS based phone of tablet
4) Pen and paper to write down answers to questions
5) Apps you will need for your phone/tablet
- twitter account app
- Google earth or
- Google maps or
- Google navigation or
- something equivalent

The next thing we should start is a list of people coming.

I will also mention early on that you will probably need at least two people in the car for this event.
Obviously you will need a driver, and someone to help with navigation.
Have fun

Brettus do you think you may have time to sort out reflashing my ECU as we discussed in the same weekend?

I'm keen.....but what is this "twitter" you speak of?

We've just started the process to sell our house, so attendance will depend on where that is at, but unless we are moving that weekend we should be able to make it.

Hi Scott, lets hope you can make it along.
As for this twitter, well I would like to run this event with no paper work, so I thought I would try and run it live via twitter, so I will give out a clue and that will hopefully get everybody to the first point, then another clue and so on. but I'm still looking into this side of things, if anyone can think of something better, I'm all ears.

denmax - the amount of ks? not sure at this stage, but I would work on one tank of gas, for me that would work out at around 400-450ks.

I will work on a date over the next few days.
Apps you will need on your phone or tablet at this stage will be a twitter account app and google earth or maps, either of the google apps will work.

nzmkey, congrats on the new baby to be. what date is the baby due and I will try to make sure the event is not to close to that date.

Google navigation app will work fine as well.

Here are a couple of dates that could be worth looking at, so let me know which one of these is best for you all.
Either July 27th, or August 3rd. Both are Sundays.
At this stage we are looking to run the event wind, rain or snow with the exception of road closure. If in that case we will run a different route.
Start getting your cars ready.

A bit early to add my name to the definitive list, but Ms _lackey sayz we are interested (and she always knows best);
assuming you make allowance slow middle age drivers with no reflexes and bad eye sight
n it’s not cold or snowing on the desert road
n we can get time off work
n I don’t scare her with another one of those unfortunate ummm ‘senior’ moments, cornering in the wet.........

Poor_Lackey, I'm sure you will be fine, age and ability will have no bearing on this event. Its just a straight out fun event and a nice drive in the country.

For all those intending on coming along.
I have posted a tweet for you all to have a look at, so you can see where the starting point for the event is.
Let me know how you get on finding it.
