Oh what utter bullshit Trev! The Aussies cop far worse when they tour the sub-continent.
As for bringing back to earth - more crap. You've read too many hysterical Roebuck crying fits (not to mention pieces by ***** PC generalist journos who wouldn't know a googly from a flipper). I used to respect Roebuck's talent but he's jumped the shark this summer.
Those of us who had to support Aussie cricket through the desert that was the '80's (and haven't just jumped on board since they started winning everything) appreciate their well-deserved dominance. They work bloody hard to stay on top and thoroughly deserved to celebrate that Sydney test victory.
Full credit to the Indians - they played very well in Perth. However, when Johnson and Clarke (i.e. the other one) started showing our openers (please, please get better Haydo!) how it's done late in the innings, I nearly dared hope we'd pull off the miracle..

Let’s face it, the only reason there was any excitement about this series was when the games were so close. IMHO a loss is a good thing because it will always benefit competitiveness in cricket.
I have no doubt that they are preparing a counter-attack in Adelaide, and we'll see a win for the Aussies...or will we...?

A close, exciting contest, yes. Seeing an Aussie loss as a good thing - never!
I don't need to see my cricket team beaten to maintain my interest in the game. And cricket is only 'predictable' until the next 'upset win'.
I'll never understand people who get bored with a winning team...

I still reckon the Indians are playing well below where they ought to be, and in fact their poor reaction to the 2nd test was all about saving face back home and for the Indian media. They punch well below their weight, and the fact they won this test reflected more on the outcome of those circumstances than pure skill. With some exceptions, they are one of the slackest fielding teams I've seen tour for a while.
Let's hope things get back to normal in Adelaide.

Its just a Captain Anna Bligh stunt to help her old, stale and blatently arrogant government which is well and truly on the nose.
There its off my chest and I feel better now....

Give due credit where its due!India's victory over Australia was nothing short of 1st class swing bowling, which Australia couldn't replicate and beating the No. 1 team in the world on a 16-match winning streak speaks volumes.
As for their captain Anil Kumble, I take my hat off to him. Here he is...a quitely spoken 37 year old playing some of the best cricket of his life, and he joined Muralitharan and Warne as the only bowler in the history of Test cricket to take more than 600 test wickets.
BUT to put things in perspective, if the Indians think they are now the number one team in the world they can dream on. That title comes with years of wins and Australia holds every trophy ie (Ashes, Border-Gavaskar etc) against every other nation.
On another point you won't see Australians burning effigies of the umpires or Kumble after yesterdays umpiring or holding the ICC at ransom.
Thats the one things about Australians, we can admit when we have been beaten, take it on the chin and regroup....so if they win in Adelaide we'll know Perth was no fluke...

I also give credit to some of the Indian bowling, but it's often ill-disciplined and despite his experience, I rank Kumble low as a skipper with competence in the strategy of the game

A lot of people have been snowed by Kumble's press conference appearances, where he plays the mealy-mouthed 'good bloke' role extremely well. I reckon there are better skippers than him in the Indian side but it's always been a matter of who wants to accept the poisoned chalice in those sub-continent teams.
Speaking of ill-discipline, I was very disappointed in Tait's showing, after he talked himself up too. Would have been better off keeping his trap shut.

LOL. Not sure about India, but in Pakistan just about every open space is a cricket field, with people playing cricket. I was there for the India v Pakistan match in Lahore... First time they played each other in one of their home countries in over 20 years and it was like everyone on the streets would die if their team lost.
Needless to say that India won, and the pakies took it well, a lot of them I spoke to said something about "letting them win in the spirit of peace" I kid you not!

It wasn't all that long ago that mankind got its jollies out of wandering over to the neighbours' joint and attempting to rearrange their internal organs. There's been plenty of trick cyclists who have theorised that sport has assumed this role for the modern man. It's a tribal thing and people who dismiss it usually do not understand the motivations behind it.

All sports are ... whether tactical or strategical ...
... think about a game like squash where you as a player have to be in your opponent's head the whole time, trying to outsmart and trick them.
And then, even though I don't like referring to it as a sport, look at chess ... where you're doing the same thing.
