Super easy to mod too. That's a really big tick in its favour.

Let me toss this out there and see what you guys think........

One of my neighbours (not the two Maserati's guy!) has a menagerie of vehicles. A 928 Porker, a 156 Alfa, an R34 Skyline GTS? (not GTR), and a TM Magna.

The bloody Magna has had a leaking rear muffler for a year. The hole in it is now so freakin' huge no exhaust gas is emitted from the tip. Sounds like a cannon going off every time it's started. You can imagine the powerful roar of the mighty 2.6 auto as it lurches down the street on a cold still morning........

I have owned a few Magna's over the years. I know the rear mufflers rust out every 18 months if you only use it as a grocery getter. I also know that they cost about $150 and bolt on in 10 minutes (no special tools required)..... I have replaced two or three myself.

My question is this: Should I buy this dude a muffler and leave it on his front doorstep so he'll get the hint? Is that too subtle?

LOL, no, nor me.

I don't mind the purple when it's kept clean though.

And I agree with Timbo on the green - yuck.

This might sound controversial but how about walking over with a sixpack and sharing your knowledge of this comparatively cheap fix for an annoying problem.

If he really likes his cars he might just appreciate it and do it for you.

And he might look the other way as your renovations go on...and on...and on.

Revolver has the right idea - if you don't fit the muffler, then I bet it will end up on eBay or in the bin (on the basis that your neighbour may not even realise what it is.. and then can't take the giant leap to the "problem"..)

He's a bit of a strange cat. He's a lawyer, actually!! I've said g'day to him a couple of times since he's moved in......but he's a loner kind of guy, I think. I can't understand why he wouldn't have fixed it by now, that's where I think it's strange.

Maybe he's wondering how long that Mazda dick will put up with the racket. Maybe he's got a bet running with his missus!!

You're screwed.

If you tell him to his precious face, he'll lose his and engage in all out war.

If you leave it on his doorstep, he'll dob you in to the Council for littering.

If you write him a letter, he'll commence proceedings for harassment.

Seriously, just try the car perve approach next time he's out the front washing one of his prides and joy.

Lie and tell him you're interested in his collection. Talk aftermarket stuff and casually drop in the Magna muffler fix. Bet it works.

A much cheaper solution is to stuff a potato or two in his muffler , save your $150,00
