Lack of modded RX8's
Yeah just noticed that there are very few modded 8's going around Sydney... majority of the ones i see are all chrome'd up etc. I've proly seen a handful of JDM style RX8's.
i guess i'm just a bit surprised at the lack of sponsors we have for aftermarket parts...
Is there a meet coming up by any chance where i can meet some of you owners?

I would love some JDM parts but the cost of them+ freight normally attracts additional import duty and that's before any fitting and painting.
to get FI cheap you need to mass produce. I can now see why the .au kits are hideously expensive. After you build them you need to make money on them or it isn't worth the effort developing them.

If by JDM you mean bodykits, etc - yes, they're exxy and problematic to import. Besides, Sydney is a ***** of a place to drive around with a lowered car and side skirts, etc only make that worse.
As for FI - I wouldn't hold your breath for much cheaper kits Matt. They'll be $10K plus for the forseeable future.
As for another Sydney meet - I'm away a bit atm but when I get back I'll organise another Sydney cruise for September sometime.

I am getting sick of how slow the RX8 is to be honest and how much it costs to make even slightly faster.I am starting to save towards the 16X RX7(if they make one,I am gambling that they do).Sure it handles well but that is not enough these days. There are a lot of other fast cars out there these days for good money..

I would suggest otherwise with the AUD getting stronger (USD getting weaker depending on the point of view) and the competition between kits heating up. there are also reasonable priced kits out there like the knightsports kit.

Maybe you should drop a dirty big turbo into yours while you wait for the 7 Certainly amazing on a track, but anywhere else it would be a pain in the butt

Don't get me wrong,I love the 8 for what it is but I wish it was a bit more tunable both reliably and cast wise. I love thrashing Boxters and more expensive cars at the track but knowing how hard rotaries can go I just wish some of that power was in our 8.. Bang for buck it is an awesome car and I am probably being a bit hard on it..
