Known problems with .au rx8

The hand-brake thread made me realise my small problems might be occurring in other rx8's.

I thought a thread that people could reference or post small problems might be useful. The purpose would not be to list major recalls but to generate a list of hard to diagnose problems and how the problem was resolved. this info could be use by other owners at dealers who refuse to or are incapable of fixing the issue.

To get the ball rolling:

Problem: front passenger side suspension squeaks over speed bumps.
Fix: No known fix at this stage

Problem: Drivers side window makes clunking sound when being wound up.
Fix: Lexic's actuators where replaced under warranty.

Problem: Hand brake to weak to hold car on incline.
Fix: unknown mine seems fine now but it seems to be a major issue since it has caused a major accident.

Problem: centre console button and slider broken.
Fix: do they replace this under warranty?

I will start polls for emerging issues that seem to be wide spread in the community

The way you've set your poll up there seems to be no way to vote no to any of them. Or have I just missed how you do that?

Somebhody report back to me about button NUMBER 5 in their car.

I'd assume its your 104.9FM button? LOL

Mine feels mushy or unnatural for a button compared to 1,2,3,4 and 6.

Not being a bitch, wanna see if I'm the black sheep.

None of those problems for me...but there's no way to vote 'no', so am not sure what the poll will prove

That's what I was getting at. You may discover how many people have these problems but not as a percentage of those who have viewed the poll. Those who say no to any or all three aren't recognised in the results.

Sorry I miss-read your post revolver. I see what you’re getting at now.

The aim of the poll was for counting numbers with the problem so people could see their was X numbers of people with the problem so the problem is probably common and has a fix. The poll is also supposed to evolve as well. If no one else has the squeaky suspension and it stays it's wasting space.

If your answering no and don't have any other problems then your lucky and can start another thread and gloat with a poll for who has no problems Furthermore if you post no and a problem is added it would be a false ‘No’ response and be misleading.

If you have other ideas of how it can be improved then let me know I want the poll to be useful so any ideas can only help it.

Why don't you start from scratch and allow a yes or no answer for each of the problems you have raised?

Revolver is right (!!!), rotorenvy. You need to know how many people considered your questions. If 20 people out of 25 considered the handbrake issue, for example, and answered 'yes', then 80% of cars suffer the problem. If it was 20 people out of 400 who considered the question, then only 5% of cars have the problem. You have to know how many people would have answered 'no'.

Cheers cobber

Another thing that I have had replaced that I dont think that I have mentioned before is the actuators for both the driver and passenger electric windows. It got rid of the clunk noise. Under warranty of course!

Man, you need to donate that RX8 to science!

Sorry you've had so much bad luck with it.
