I tend to disagree Taka. As posted above, surely we're capable of being respectful to those who have lost their lives whilst also discussing and learning other things from this awful accident.

Mazda can crash test all they like but real world accidents are usually far more revealing about whether they've got their engineering right. If I were Mazda, I'd be seeking access to the wreck.

You'll never be able to prevent ********* doing dumb things but at least you can learn from the results and attempt to limit them in future.

Maybe the fact that the RX8 doesn't have the straight line speed, or that it's n/a and not really tunable, or maybe the fact that it's still expensive, even as a second-hand proposition, putting it out of reach of the younger, 'hoon'-type people.

What I love about the RX8 is that the 'full sicks' have so far kept away from it, and it seems that true enthusiasts are owning them.

Argh, probably getting a bit OT now.
Yeha i got a blue rx8 as well and was up at the blue mtns with no reception. Parents freaked. I've seen my fair share of 'hectics' with 22inch chromies on the rx8... so not sure if u are accurate with the full sicks not touching the 8.

RIP to those 2 women. Gotta feel for their families...

Hey, I know that corner and dip - thanks for filling us in. You're dead right too - no way known you'd keep the car on line if you were doing anything like the reported speed. What a bloody dill.

As for pollie's promises, I was only thinking yesterday as I bucked and bumped over another Sydney goat track (a main road mind you) what a shambles this joint is these days. It's apparent that basic government functions like road maintenance have been subverted by the usual greed and self-interest. You need look no further than Tripodi's continued survival in the new NSW ministry as an example of the problem. The whole lot of 'em couldn't run a choko vine over a shithouse.

There are always exceptions but they are not very common at all.

No make of car is immune to it though, I remember seeing a picture of a Lotus Elise with some god-aweful chromies on it a while back.

As simple as this sounds.....

1. Mazda wouldn't give a ****.

2. Despite all the media campaigns, RBTs, speed cameras etc, the message dosen't sink into *********....

If it was a main road it wouldn't directly be the government's responsibility.
12 years ago Transfield were contracted to maintain the whole network;
- exactly as it was 12 years ago.

There is always outcast in the society. This is the fact. Unfortunate but true.

Fair enough. I analyse death and disease as a profession mind you. I was going to say something about your near miss of you Dave going into a mortuary. But I think it is inappropriate and keep it to myself.

I just thought most of us know hardly anything about it, speculations of what happened and who did it, will just deepen the wound of those closely related to the death.

Not to mention that the Journalists have started to drill on those facts and bring out lots of other stuff. Healthy debate or not is really depends on how we talk about it.

One dude somewhere suggested all cars to have a speed limiter fitted .

BTW I think the JDM GTR is very clever, the speed limiter is off when the GPS matches the location of the race tracks!

Updating news for those interested.

Drove past crash site (not in my blue RX-8!) & noted it didn't take place in the area I originally suspected.

It occured well after the left kink/dip so the RX-8 driver obviously negotiated that one. After surviving the drop/kink, the road reduces to 2-lane & approaching a bridge, I'm guessing he overtook (into oncoming traffic) some cars & hit the Ford Focus travelling towards him at the base of the rise before the bridge. (some 1km past the left kink/drop)

Here is another pic. I'm still curious as to "His story" (owner on drugs, wacko car thief etc) so will post again if more info comes to light.

REgards

The pic was taken from the bridge looking S/E back at the left kink/drop (which cant be seen in this shot) The RX-8 is facing the direction of travel on the wrong side of the road, the Focus has spun 180`.
