(FD is the RX-7)

The new RX-7 (due in 2005-6) therefore will be an FF!!?? :D

The last generation RX-7 is well known in Japan as an "FD" based on the initials at the VIN number. They refer that particular built of the older RX7 as an FC, the newer RX7 as FD or like my integra Type R (DC - 2) and the latest model Integra R as the DC - 5.

As the VIN number of the car started as FE (well sort of)... so the RX8 will be called "FE" in Japan. Coz the previous rotary car are FC then FD now FE.... The 2006 RX7 will be coincidentally an "FF". FF is also well known in Japan as a Front mounted engine Front wheel drive car. So it is funny as we know that it is stupid to have a real sports car like the RX7 to have Front Wheel Drive... FR is better - Rear Wheel Drive.... Ah... there are also (MR) - like the NSXs and the AWD like the WRX and EVOs....
