Full size spare

Has anyone looked into the costs of getting a full size spare?

I can't see myself trusting the space saver on an aussie road trip.

Full size will eat most of the boot space though... but it's better than trying to find a low profile somewhere between Woop Woop and the black stump.

Still better than oversea where they don't even have a spare, but given a tire patch tube thing, that would wreck your wheels when used.

we got a full size spare with ours and it looks difficult to get out. It's attatched to the roof of thee boot (not the boot door!) and you've got to undo a zipper and then catch it as it falls! It does take up a big chunk of your boot space, don't know how much it cost though.

As long as you're prepared to fork out $$$ for a new tire instead of the small cost of a puncture repair.

Also, the puncture repair kit is no good if there is major damage to your tyre (e.g. a rip in the sidewall).

It's true. At the drive day I asked the Mazda officials about the use of the puncture repair kit (because I've never used one) and their answer was :

- In the event of a puncture you jack the car up as normal, inject the latex sealant and spin the wheel. This will set inside the tyre forming an air tight skin. You then use the electric compressor to inflate the tyre. This process WILL mess up the balance of your wheels though and the only permanent solution is to replace the tyre completely -

It's Several hundred dollars for a Bridgestone Potenza I reckon.
