Also a subjective thing. Some people tried the short shifter and went back to stock, others love it.

I'm a convert. When I drive the standard shift now it feels too sloppy to me.

 

The ones that tried the short shifter and then went back to stock i would say need more driving lessons

The stock long rowboat shifter is as sloppy as .....................

The shortshifter i think is much notchier in its shift action.

Still, there's no going back, the thing is so toight, like a tiger.

But no, coilovers is a no no if you gonna track your car twice in its lifetime.

Far out, it looks hot though. lol

 

Really? One of them pedals the fastest NA car at the Nats and the other is a very experienced trackie who was also amongst the quicker Nats entrants over 2 years. Indeed, many members have learnt from them at such events.

 

That's why I think the MS springs and shocks are a good compromise Tuan.

You get that lower look (without getting silly about it) and better handling without bone-shaking levels of firmness and, if you order from the right place, get them for a tad over $1K delivered to your door...

 

I have no doubt that these two guys could get the quickest times at the Nats even driving an..................... Automatic RX8,. .............. , but i still feel you have to have more precise skills to master the short shifter as opposed to the stock one .

There's a bit of a story behind that time. The timer thing was put in a turbo car ... don't believe everything you read.

So how much time you reckon you shave off by using a short shifter?

 

i would say you have to have a quick foot too

 

I'm not talking about the owner of either that particular transponder or that particular turbo car.

But damn that was funny at the time...

 

The short shifter with double clucthing helps keep the revs at a higher changing point keeping the car more on the boil , in the right hands (Rick Shaws )around a track i believe it would have a definet advantage , with an average driver the advantage could easily be negated .
