Micheal,

None of those comments were personal attacks. Mine was a sarcastic comment about the pictures being marginally bigger than the thumbnails.

I asked you, here and in PM to rectify it. It might not be major, but sometimes it is the last straw. You have not seemed willing to change anything, so I will change it for you.

Cheers,
Hymee.

BTW - can you please learn to "quote" properly?

OK then the photo's are not that small.

They are full size, and it is just the contents that are small. No wonder it spools up so quickly. Might have a bit of trouble pressurizing the 3" intercooler pipes. ROFLMAO!!!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Check the" Major horsepower upgrades " Im sure you'll see plenty to substanciate the potential gains from the Turbo :p

Dave
As you say, lots of stuff there about the "potential" gains, but still a bit light on details of the actual gains. I guess I didn't dig deep enough, but when I looked in the "major horsepower upgrades" section I saw lots of predictions, lots of questions, and a fair few claims of this and that, but I couldn't seem to locate any actual dyno figures. Are they there somewhere?

Have you seen any independent graphs or numbers that show what owners have actually got in extra power, and where in the rev range they were getting it?

Are you thinking of doing any "before and after" dyno figures, or anything else that will give us more than a "Wow!" type report?

Please don't think I'm saying that turbos don't do much on the RX8, or aren't sorted yet, or whatever the gloom merchants are suggesting - I'm certainly hoping that they do a good job. Like most of us here, I've pondered whether to fit one or not - but haven't been able to find enough info yet to convince me that I really need one, and we've had a few false starts over the last 18months.

Good luck with the fitting, and I hope you have some lick smacking reports for us soon... :D

Cheers, Chris.

Jon {philodox) has a reported 240hp on the stock setup ( with larger wheels $ tires ,mind you ) and Manuel has a dyno'ed 300 rwhp plus with a modified setup

I'm just gonna shoot for whatever takes the stock injectors to approx 85-90% duty cycle , which, from my research is around 9 psi or somewhere in the vicinity of 250- 270 rwhp

Only time will tell

Depending on the Fitter , I would approximate between $500 to $1000

I'm commissioned a Guy for $500

Dave,

How far away is your install? It's like watching someone open a present! Slowly!

Maybe... I'm trying to work out how to ge it into the country without duty and taxes, plus how to minimise shipping

It's 3K USD plus 1k install = approx 5k all up with a min of 180KW at the wheels and potentially 200KW without dramas.
My goal is 200KW at the wheels (reliable power that is) I was tempted with the Rotormaster kit but 9k a little rich for me.

Thanx I khow how much you mean that :p

I initially had a choice of two people.
The first being a dodgy backyarder in Brizzy. He had quite contradictory views on turbo instalation and I eventually found out he had nearly no experience in this field He has a garage in the back of his house but I found him lacking a lot of integrity. He promised the world but delivered nothing .I decided to definitly not use this guy

The second was a guy that was initially commissioned to do the job. His name is Ken from Rotary Beat .He has a sterile, highly organised workshop but was Much much more expensive. But hey you, get what you pay for. :o

After looking at at the kit , I have decided not to go with the Greddy kit it . ( its limitations ) Its still a great kit

I have since dicussed to do a deal with him where we will be developing a whole new Turbo set up for the RX8

We sat for weeks trying to assertain our expectations comming to the conclusion that we needed to supply a whole new turbo from the ground up

I have ironed out all the crap , and all the wanna beeez , all the people that say they are knowledgable and am now collaberating with the world best , a handful of GURU's that are putting together one awesome package for the RX8

Ill keep you all posted with the developments We are in very early days

Stay Beautiful

I will be using my knowledge of 20years of engine building , Ken form Rotary Beat , 25years of rotaries alone
Dyson rotaties ( have two world records with rotary engines )
Phil Laird The many conversations and great advice ( thanx mate )
MAZDA Maniac in the States
And a guy who is computor designing a turbo from the groung up using a revolutionary roller bearing design which is 30% more efficient than standard roller bearings.
Pits . Matty Spry who's knowledg of tuning is internationally renowned
All the above people have had an enormous influence on this turbo design
and I thank them immensly

Oh bugger... not the promise of another FI kit Is it just me or is everyone trying to reinvent the wheel here. Would it not be better to try and fix / enhance only the broken bits of what's already out there???
Don't get me wrong Dave... I am rather excited about the prospects of another homegrown kit, but in my mind the problem is not really with the FI, rather more to do with the tuning / "cracking" the ECU. .... :rant over:

OK... hope it works out for ya Dave.... btw what are you doing with your GReedy kit

You got it! It's a closed proprietary system, so until there are alternative, 'open' management systems, FI is going to be a risky challenge

So instead of the gurus out there working on developing kits with different size snails, why don't they spend time figuring how to work with the existing ECU.
I can understand what Hymee and RP are doing because their method of FI is different. But to buy a GReddy kit then say ....nah it's no good, lets do the same thing but with parts from a different supplier...... it desn't make any sense to me.
If I were a paraniod SOB, then I would almost be tempted to say that the Greddy kit was purchased with the intent of "reverse engineering" it.
I think I'm just gonna stick to my guns and wait for the AFE SC or Hymee's SC, either of these options seem liek the way to go.

As I have stated earlier, The Greddy Kit is Great , but for what I want, ( more power), I believe with my support team, will be doable , . Anyhow if I become unsuccessful I still have the Greddy kit to whack on :D

This is going to be a ground up development , and its for my own personal use

If I cant get 300 horses at the black stuff I can look at the option of throwing in a series 6 set up . A guy I met has a 20b in his in Sydney. BUT this will definitly be the last option

I am a semi retired 31year old who has seen good times in the prpoerty market and the music industry and am doing this for for kicks :o

Hey there may be a song in that

E Manage is enough for the GReddy turbo

If you want to tune it better you can go to Motec... and that is what I will do since I know a good Motec tuner in Melbourne.

Motec is.... another piggy back

There are stand alones in Japan but they do the same function as the eManage and piggyback EXCEPT some can change the variable valving on the intake ports S-DAIS.

Your Cool . :D

I just love this car soooooo much

I was in the market for a new car so I really wanted a Ferrari but found the ride soooo sucked and my slender 120kg 6 ft 3' frame could just get in but needed the jaws of life to get me out

The lines of the RX8 are phenominal and I intend to modify them to what invisioned the ultimate car to be. It has so much potential!!

I got 2 littlies also so most cars I drove for the exhileration had no way of accomidating them

The 8 has Neeeeeeeeearly everything ! :D
Or it could be just me . My wife says Im never happy with anything and that Im a fastidious perfectionist, but thats what you get being a Musician/ producer

If you guys have Cable . Look up the Movie "The Turner Affair " Im not sure what channel But I wrote the Music for it and appeared in two scenes . :o

This turbo thing is just so exhilerating to do and such a challenge. I cant wait.
I love a good challenge

Ciao

Oh dear. TSI is no longer. We might even have something else more RX-8 specific in development.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Yes, I rather liked him until then!!

Especially as I've recently taken up learning music theory and playing the guitar in my dotage.

I'm of course deeply jealous of anybody with musical talent of any kind. :D

From all the info ive assertained, The Emanage is the only affordable option in retuning the 8
The car doesnt spit the dummy as it has done using the Microtech ,So Im told

There a a group of guys in Sydney trying to crack the onbord processor and arent having much luck . Mind you these guys cracked Merc, BMW and subaru

Work that out
