Features that important.

As it can get to all signed up members effortnessly, we can set up group meeting dates, tasks to complete and stuff by just returning an email rather than clicking on to the site. Very simple and I use this to communicate with my set of friends. :p

I've heard that Shannons will cover some events on a track. As with any insurer they may require an addition to the premium or increase the excess to cover their risk. They may also take into account membership of car clubs / driving courses etc.

Ultimately if you want to check with your insurer and the insurer does not cover it then it is your responsibility to drive within your limits. You can have fun on a race track without driving at 110%. The aim is to see what the RX-8 can do without being restricted to normal draconian speed limits, just make sure you brake early and keep the DSC turned on. For those that are happy to take the risk and pay the resulting damage bill drive a bit faster, take the risk and turn the DSC off.

I agree that everyone just needs to be sensible and wear the fact that if they break it, they fix it.

Sorry I misunderstood :o , Im just addicted to speed :D.

taka...wasn't meaning to criticise...just to suggest a better idea might be to set up a private forum at RX8club.com.au, which can be accessed by validated members, and provides email alerts. Unfortunately, Choppy (Phillip) is o/s until the end of next week, so I haven't been able to progress this.

My concern with another forum at Yahoo is that it's yet another place people have to remember to visit. The value of these forums comes through the consolidation of information and participation; conversely, any fragmentation of this lessens their value.

As i have said, I do not intend to be a control freak on the Nats :o So, please comment on what might be the preferable approach.

haha timbo... I set up the Yahoo Group is not meant for people to visit. It simply a site to generate email to your Inbox (which automatically check every minute at work). So I don't have to come here! or the .au site or whatever. You don't have to go to Yahoo Group site at all and you get all the news, announcement or whatever.

we had a Yum Cha club, for my friend who like to yum cha and we have 100 of emails to and from each other all day. But I may only go to the site once a year .

You might think that it is a site but I think it is just a email rx8oznats@yahoogroups.com.

It is easier for some people to get to know the news first hand, that's all. But the downside is it is a fuss to set up all members.

I've joined the Yahoo group.

I agree with Taka - the advantage is that you don't need to get on the forum to keep up to date with the Nationals - you can just check your email.

However, as Taka has said, we need to confine emails on the Yahoo group to the Nats only - any side issues that get raised should be shunted off to the forum so we're not all deluged with unwanted email.

My 5 cents.

Dude, when you've got no skills, knowledge or abilities you soon learn that crap is all that you can contribute to life. It's either that or I sit here silently! (and picking on Revole can be fun, you should try it sometime).

Amen to that Tim! :D :D

I'll never have half the car knowledge of most of the guys here but I'm happy to have a laugh and share the little I do know, while of course, learning lots. Being Tim's punching bag is just a bonus! :p :D :D

Lucky you guys did not take it personally.

Hey I download a clip of Wakefield, filmed by a shaking hand from a passenger. I forgot the link though

Damn

Oh but I search Wakefield Park Video on Yahoo and found it on the first 5 pages.

I'm quite keen on that idea as well, keep us informed on what's going on there. Might be good for a few of us to have a practice day prior to the Nationals, to help get out times down.

Tim, check out their website - you can inform yourself.

I'm planning on going if I can get past the 'but the car won't be insured' marital hurdle.

Nice vid. Go for the hot lap. Do you think he is making too wide going to the double right 3 & 4. I think I can go a bit straighter and still getting to the outside and turn at 4 @ 2nd gear.

Some great footage.

I love the spin. Having watched most of the links, I reckon his tyres would have been cactus by the end of the day. :p :D

I contacted the man Scott. Seems a nice guy.

He showed me this link which describe the lap in an MX-5, but he warned me that we are approaching corners much faster than the 5 so just take it as a reference.

Ok, went to Goulburn today (bloody cold...be glad we'll be there in October!) and checked out the track, motels and various other venues.

I'm putting together a document which I will post here hopefully tomorrow, with all the information.
