Does the 8 have a rev limiter??

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but the ballistic rate at which our little car gathers pace above 8000rpm has me wondering- will it stop before it blows??! If it does cut the fuel, at what rpm does that happen? Heck i can hardly even HEAR that little warning chime when the engine is SCREAMING for more.....

I think all cars have rev limiter... I think even the F1 has...

It limits to 9400 rpm

yes, it does. When the engine is warm, you get the beep at about 9k, and the fuel starvation (or some sort of engine cutout) at about 9.5k. According to the RX8 harcover book, the engine itself will rev out over 15k. But imagine the fuel economy ...

Thanks guys. DBB I've heard of the RX-8 book before - sounds interesting. Could you please advise how to get a copy here in Oz?

I only have them because I preordered the car. I think it is from Japan as it marked 5000 yen in the front cover

It's a good book, I borrowed the dealers copy after my test drive......MA told me yesterday that it is no longer available.

I too would be interested in getting a copy....

Gomez.

I didn't pre-order, but I was sent a book with my owner kit.

Certainly does have a RPM limiter. Cuts fuel, and you can really feel it. Gets there all to soon. The engine feels like it is still making good power. Well not dropping off anyway like on an asphixiated reciprocating valved contraption. And the dyno plots back-up that feeling.

Cheers,
Hymee/

What's in the owner's pack?
I had a call from Mazda about 2 weeks after taking delivery of the car and they mentioned sending the pack, but I'm yet to see it.
Just curious what it is?

I got mine last week: driving course invite, stainless steel Rx-8 keyring ( small but quite nice - I'm actually using it), a small glossy leaflet (with some tips on stuff like oil, the space saver spare etc), a welcome letter, a lengthy customer survey, a service ID card, and that's about it.

If you've completed other driving courses you can apparently upgrade the intro course to a higher level if you pay the difference.
