CHOPPY

Now that i have been encouraged by various members AND I BELIEVE YOU ARE READY i will reveal stage 3 of my driving thrills , and deviations

STAGE 1 :

Driving loud and fast with radio off , in order to hear sweet note of engine .

STAGE 2:

Same as above however incorporating a no headlights policy , more thrills danger , making it harder for car to be identified .

Stage 3:

Same as the 2 stages above , but having your girl friend performing Fellatio on you .this takes great coordination and skill both from the driver and the passenger .HA HA HA .

Hymee ,

PLEASE dont delete my thread it takes me a great deal of time to type , and i did use the word Fellatio , and not ******* .HA HA HA .
PS:I obcourse did this in my younger days and i do not adhere to the se practices now .
cheers

lol your a hood L&L. I think Stage 4-5 is when your volcano leads to erruption, and taking a corner sideways without hitting the accelrator to hard (hence when you errupt your body tenses up, so does your legs hehe). And being able to keep the car in 1 piece.

Where did you get the impression that redline in 2nd is more dangerous for the car than redline in 6th?

Redline in 2nd in and '8 is, what, somewhere between 80 and 100km/h?

In my '82 RX-7 I regularly redline 2nd (about 80) and sometimes, on the right road, 3rd (130). The 12a in my car is considerably more fragile and prone to "blowing something" than a 13b RENESIS ever would be.

If you're talking about blowing an apex seal then I'd consider it extremely unlikely in an '8 (considering that almost none of you have fiddled with the timing or have complained about pinging) at least at this stage in your cars lives.

STAGE IV

Both top gun (wildcard and our estemmed race steward Hymee)chose a very narrow back road in Sprinbrook to do some spirited driving , only to find at a later stage that this minute piece of tarmac called a road was really a two way narrow road used by locals , i only realized this when i suddenly was faced with a station wagon tryng to share part of the road that we had travelled along at near 190km .

Luckily the awesome handling on my RX8 and some driver input saved me from a dire fate .

Driving at those speeds on a narrow unknown road not having adequate visuals of the road ahead only to realize later that its a two way road , caution was best practiced .

Spirited yes SAFE definetely NO

cheers
michael.

Hmmm.... 3 hoons in the same vicinity instead of only the one.
Sounds to me like some sort of organised illegal street racing.
I won't tell if you don't.

I don't recall doing 190 anywhere? But if you wan't to admit that in public, well your on your own.

I was talking about the 80km/h bit where L&L couldn't keep up with us doing the posted limit... :p

Spirited driving yes, racing definatley not.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee,

I think L&L is talking about having difficulty travelling at the posted limit of 80km/h over the 190km stretch of road.

He's such a law abiding citizen that he always travels at 10km/h less then the speed limit and had difficulty keeping up with you guys.

I think his eyesight's a bit shot from all those years of driving the Triumph sans headlights.

That could explain the slower speeds.

L&L, you are a bit prone to exaggeration....

Hymee's account is more accurate. Maybe you hit 190 trying to catch back up...??

Has anyone found the top speed cut out?

I know its not at 210 - interested to know if anyone has found it.

Might be a task for NT RotorHead this weekend?

It has been widely claimed on the forum that the RX-8 is electronically speed limited to 148mph (~238 km/h). Several guys in the States and Canada have been there or very close, and to date I haven't heard anyone claim to have gone any faster.

Apparently the reason for 148 mph is that cars in the states capable of >150mph are required to be fitted with more expensive 'z' rated tyres. Hence a lot of manufacturers limit their cars to <150.

Isn't it strange that they would make the manufacturers do that, even though if the cars were travelling in excess of that speed they'd be doing more than double the maximum legal speed limit in the country?

I assume that in certain areas of the US, there has to be unrestricted speed limits somewhere, just like in NT.
