Do you sometimes.....

......feel the need to turn the stereo off, JUST so you can listen attentively to that amazing wailing engine?

......turn off the A/C and roll the driver's window down on a stinking hot Sydney summer day, JUST to hear the sound of the exhaust ricochetting off the scenery like a swarm of pissed off BEES??

.....shift down a few gears for no good reason at all...other than to experience again and again the crescendo of noise and the fluidity of that super slick gearbox???

I do.

Geez I love this car.... :D :D :D

NickG,

You know it was a cold night last night in Sydney, after dropping of a mate at the street runs driving home and did not even bothre turning the stereo on... had both windows open so i can get the full effect of the noise of the motor and the noise as it charges up over 5k rpm..

Every set of lights i had a smile on my face and the M5 felt so good at 190km/h but then i could not take it past that point with six gear flat stick would not redline

Had to then slow down as the m5 was blocked so i had to go long way home..

what does this mean? The RX8 easily goes past 190kph, it can hold 220+ kph the entire distance of the Hay plain without breaking a sweat (although that exercise does consume 3/4 of a tank of petrol)

I put down the windows, turn off the DSC and switch off the aircon almost everytime I jump in and drive the 8.

Find myself doing it all the time now since I got a new exhaust.
Sounds f##king great! :D

Driving the 8 always brings a smile to my face, especially gearchanges at 9k revs.

There are a few things that I would change on the car, but those will all be addressed in due time.

Take this advice from someone who has walked this earth for fifteen years longer than you......curb your enthusiasm.

Maybe the M5 was blocked because of an accident?? Some fool speeding excessively, perhaps??

Some of us have loved ones sharing Sydney's roads....

Sterio?

Oh Steriods. Sorry, the RX-8 needs and LS1 motor in it to be on the 'roids

Hehehe. My spell checking has notched up a gear since RichardM has been making his presence felt around this place!

Cheers,
Hymee.

My favourite part of town to open the windows and hear the stereo Renesis is the road that is through a cutting heading from Wentworth Park up to the Darling Hrbour overpass. The resonance is awesome!!!!

The M5 was closed for fixing the road.. I spend so much money on the road and generally never get to use it as its always closed for repairs.. you know what really gets to me is when in the tunnel drops of water or whatever drops on your windscreen..grrrr

Public alright... its a company car it reflects our hosting ( Fast ) eheh, but it could have all been a dream i was tired.. In that dream the car did not move past 190 maybe dsc will come off next time.

The time i was travelling no other cars where on the road going my way and opposite. So i was being responsible in the public in my dream too. I respect your years but you have to also respect the cars talents and others skills.

Regards
Phillip

Eh?

Ghostrider, the pattern is full.....no more flypasts for this Jet Jockey......

I dont care how much money you spend on the M5, it's not your racetrack.

Choppy

In my younger wilder days i use to drive my TRIUMPH STAG V8 CONVERTIBLE , with stereo and head lights off in the dead of the night just to listen to the Engine humming it was great .

As Gomez has said yes i was reckless AND SILLY AND OF COURSE I am not suggesting to any members to drive with their Headlights off whilst listening to the rotary in the dead of the night .

cheers
michael

Hey Choppy - here's a tip: trying doing it in second gear next time. The noise is exactly the same, you WILL hit the redline and the risk to you and others is...er...dramatically less. :D

ROFL!

It must have been so much quiter with those headlights off, so you could really enjoy that orgasmic throb of the V8 roar!

Cheers,
Hymee.

God, you're lucky we're in Australia, otherwise you would have hit a stag.

That's pretty extreme, driving without the lights, I lack the testicular fortitude to even consider doing that.

Them's pretty big gonads.
