cloth seats noise on cornering

getting annoying sound under drivers seat (cloth) when turning corners fast - (left) (almost always) ..seat seems to be loose..

mazda reckon they would need to take seat out to fix problem.. i dont think i want some wet nosed apprentice taking my seat out and scratching my otherwise perfect interior...they can fix at 5000 k/m (i will get an oil change at that time ) however i dont think i can put up with it for that long

leather seats probably dont have this issue as they have a different mechanism i believe.

and for those who will respond with --should have got leather....sweat,shorts and leather seats don't mix unless your being kinky

Hey man.....I'm with you baby on the leather thing.....
Can't comment on a fix, Gomez's ride is still an XR8...

Save the cows (especially the rare and endangered Red/Black ones)
Save the Xenon pups with their big cute eyes,
Save the precious environment, no more mining for pop up headlight washers...!

I had the same problem with leather pack seat - have them speak to John Newell Mazda if you/they are not sure on how to fix it. They added some washers I think to secure the seat better - apparently it is a known problem with MX5s in the past also.

Good to hear you are pushing hard on the corners!

This is a known issue, and there is a service bulletin on this. They put some silastic onto some fixing points or something. I can't say I saw him take the whole seat out. I was standing right next to the car when they did it, but I was reading a training manual, so I didn't even notice. But I trust Robby, my RX-8 mechanic. If they don't like me standing there watching (learning), then they know I can take my business somewhere else.

The last time I had my SS serviced, I was refused to be allowed in to see the rooted clutch that was replaced under warranty. I have not been back since :p I voted with my feet

Cheers,
Hymee.

Give Grand Prix Mazda a call in Brisbane. Rob in service was the one who told me, and did the work.

Better still, call Mazda Customer Service, Technical Support. They should know.

Cheers,
Hymee.

OT: Hymee - when you book your car in do you specifically ask for Robby - or does he do all the RX-8's at Aspley? About to get mine serviced (doing 10k service at 7k - after 6 months time for an oil change as I do lots of short trips).

He is the guy who did the special RX-8 training course. But I have seen others doing bits and pieces, like fitting a Hymee Grill Kit

No I don't specifically ask for him.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Having the same problem with my cloth seats...I see excessive play in some of the linkage under the seats (rails seem secure). Will call dealer.
