I tested the CAN tool on a European SP (mine!) and it worked fine. The functionnalities were beyond my expectencies for a prototype software! Well done Hymee and SCO.
I'm meeting some other EU owners next Sunday. Will test my unit on HPs.

That is a good question. Here is what I replied on another thread...

Due to the far range of options, we will not be supplying a serial cable to go between our interface and the computer. We will however publish recommended part numbers. What we will provide will include the interface unit, and the correct cable meeting to plug into the vehicles ODBII port.

BTW - It also works on a Mazda 6. It should work on a Mazda 3 as well, and any other vehicle with a CAN-bus conforming to the ISO spec.

Hey, you mention about the serial-USB adaptor for the scanner. My laptop and Palm (if you have this version in your development schedule), uses USB. How do I know which one you are talking about that works with the adaptor, the Hymee approved one? Compaq? Since they are sold to HP now. :p
Come to worse I have to spend a bit of money to get the Serial PCMA card, right? how much are they, roughly?

But I did say thet I recommend a spesific won. And it only costs $42 AUD.

No, it is not cable specific. It presents as a standard DB9 male connector that is RS232 (COM / serial) compliant.
The PDA/XDA's Palms etc are cable specific. But if they have the option to plug into a serial /DB9/RS232 then there is a manufacturer specific cable available from the manufacturer, and possible other 3rd party vendors.
The reason I specify a certain USB / Serial adaptor is that cheap ones don't work properly. I have found one that does work properly, and is not much dearer than a cheap one.

Just thought I would point out for anyone looking for a reasonably priced Pocket PC PDA - Dell are having a clear out of their Axim - X30 PDA's - starting at $255.20 (including delivery) without Wireless or $331.10 with Wireless.
Running until 29 October.

Kiwi, thanks for the Dell information. Looks like a good value deal and I've placed an order -- regret that the Dell pda doesn't have a serial port so the serial-USB adaptor that Hymee was talking about will be necessary to use his scan tool.

The USB to serial adapter Hymee has previously mentioned will not work with the Dell Axim X30. There are converters available from the looks of it such as the one here: http://www.yourmobiledesk.com/produc...fm?prodID=4973
Alternatively you could use a serial to bluetooth adapter but these are even more expensive (around US$169).
The project is far from dead... there is some really cool stuff coming together at the moment, hopefully some pics soon.
