Buying from ebay??

Hi-

I was just wondering why is people on ebay selling stuffs so cheap compared to retail prices??

is it because of reputation, quality ( like performance and durability issue ), no warranty and on?

I never bought car parts/accesories from ebay.. except side fender strakes lol..

I heard or read.. from somewhere like few years ago that "performance parts should not be bought on ebay"

So i just followed on this guide because i thought it seemed right..

I have leather power seat! and i hate it... it becomes to hot in summer and I hate sweating. and These seats become so sticky to my skin.

Was wondering how about buying clothed racing seats on ebay.

Thank you! in advance

Depends on the company, a lot of vendors are companies on ebay. So technically your actually buying from the company more than a random person on ebay.

I buy a lot of stuff on ebay, just pay attention to feedback and make sure to buy quality stuff not just generic junk like the ebay chips and stuff like that.

you can find great deals on ebay but it will ALWAYS be buyer beware. Research the seller and read all the reviews. Make sure the pics they are using aren't stock pics and are actually of the product they're selling.

I buy lots of car parts from ebay however the quality is very dependent on the product.

for seats I wouldn't recommend ebay for you. seats must comply with the Australian design rules (ADR's) or you need to get the seats and mounts engineered and a modification plate fitted. consult with a motor engineer to see what they will allow first. then you may use ebay but there are many fake "racing seats" out there, so you have to know what you are looking at. I would suggest revolution race gear as a national sales chain that deal in race seats.

for other car products you still need to know what your likely to get. clutches and coilover kits I wouldn't be to worried about buying them on ebay. radiators and intercoolers out of china and even some of the branded intercoolers out of china are really poor products.

I have bought many silicone hose products from ebay for my supercharger install and they are second rate products compared to the best brands, however if you choose carefully for the price they are excellent value and fine for all but the most extreme conditions. I bought a few they were a waste of time and I had to bin them, so it is buyer beware. when supercheap auto is selling comparable products for about the same price you have to consider if wasting $20 on ebay is worth it.

the real bargains on ebay are when people have bought a genuine product retail and find they can't fit it or don't have a use for it.

I have sold performance parts on ebay in the past, I have a resellers permit and I had an account with several manufactors and wholesale distributors. I would use the manufactors pictures not my own so that means nothing. What you have to look at is the seller rating and if you are buying a name brand part they should include the manufactors part number. If you order the right part number it does not matter what the description says or the picture looks like, you should get the right part. If it is the wrong part then paypal will give you your money back. Oh, you must use paypal or some other secure payment. No money orders or bank transfers.

If you are buying a non-name brand part like hoses then just research the seller and ask around, someone else has likely already tried it.

I was aware of revolution race gear for seats but was too costly. because rather then light weight, i just disliked leather seats, because they tends to stick on my skin.
And i just thought I want a cloth seat -> why not lighter weight seats then.
Thanks for the info!
