Is it the Mazda second stage alarm or a 3rd party?
So, I picked up my Titanium Grey RX-8 from City Mazda on Thursday. This is the ex-demo model with 9200 km on the clock, which I discussed above.
Thoughts:
* Never owned a sportscar before, and my driveway is unprepared! It dips down too quickly and so every time I go into our out of the drive way, the car scrapes - sometimes pretty viciously. And ever time, I get that "new car anxiety" that the thing will fall apart. So the driveway builder is coming tomorrow to fix the problem. Until then, driving is off-limits.
* However, after I picked up the car on Thursday, I drove out to Werribee Mansion for a 3-day work conference. The car drives beautifully - I love it! It was not perfect, however. I had a recalcitrant abribag indicator that kept flashing the whole time. Thought I'd have to take the car in for repair, but by Saturday morning, it had fixed itself.
* Not getting as many stops-and-stares as I'd hoped on the road. Bummer.
* Took the girlfriend for a drive in the Dandenong mountains on Saturday afternoon. Coming from Ferntree Gully Road, there's a hairpin turn at the bottom of the mountain, which I took at speed. It was amazing, the car stuck to the road so well that it literally felt as though the car had stopped and it was the mountain - not the car - that was flying around the corner. Exhilarating, to say the least.
* Fuel consumption -- not the greatest, but not the worst. THe fun is worth it.
For those with more car experience, can I just ask: how well is the protection underneath the car. I noticed Taka mentioned in another post that he's had a few scrapes. What would it take to damage the car? Am I being paranoid with the driveway issue?
Cheers,
Dan
[Edit: Removed mention of somewhat unsafe driving!]

Get the service guys to find the fault and clear the fault codes for the airbags, something is not right there.....
When my car was on the hoist last week I noticed how tidy it was under there, mostly stuff is well hidden, but it would pay to have the dealer check at your 10K service....
Oh, and check your personal message inbox.....(I'm on it, okay AMG!)....
Gomez.

Kiwimeat/xsfer:
The 2nd stage alarm (I'm assuming its the $995 dealer option) is actually an add-on alarm manufactured by Vision here in Melb. They offer the same add-on alarm for around $400...But only 1 yr warranty as opposed to 3 yr Mazda offers.
I paid $61300, manual, leather...

I bought mine at Brighton Mazda.
It's the Revelation series (limited edition), black, brand new (had 3kms on clock), 62K drive away. I think it's a bargain :D
picking it up this friday... can't wait.

I was wondering if Mazda had made a decision to increase the numbers of Revelations sold here....we were only due to receive 100. What is the build date of the car you are buying??
