Best deals on a new RX8 in Melbourne?

Am going to convert my S2000 to a RX8 in the next couple of weeks, I've seen some of the earlier posts re current dealer prices, which dealer and what price have people got recently for a 'leather pack' optioned car?

xsfer... you will find the RX-8 is very similar in driving as in S2K... I like S2K very very much personally but it is a 2 seater that is all.

I am from a Honda family as well. I drove a Integra Type R before.

RX-8 is more classy. Have its problem with fuel cosumption and constant check of engine oil but it is all worthwhile.

In Melbourne the best dealer are Brighton and Penfold at Burwood. I got it from City Mazda but they are firm on price.

Shop around if I were you. Demand have drop and if you get one - welcome to the family! We hold constant meeting (oh now and then) and all people in RX-8 so far are nice people.

this is a very good price... hope it is not a demo or something.

At least I know there is only 2 guys driven the car before me. The guy named Phil or something loading from the ship to his big trailer to Mt Waverly or somewhere (the Mazda warehouse) and he loaded his car to City Mazda. The second guy is Chris the Pre delivery guy.

I guess I have to count the Japanese as well. I have only 5 k on the meter when I drove it.

they must be going for bloke... good buy I reckon.

Well I am stupid enough to order via City Mazda and demand for the black with red/black leather. Got the specific date of built (30.9.2003) and shipment (4.10.2003) and delivery date (26.10.2003)... I nearly saw my RX-8 born! rather than just picking up the car isn't it? But I don't think this info worth 6K!

6K I will do up the car with MS kit already... I envy you skyline!

xsfer is angry Hymee. Behave yourself.

I know Patrick from City Mazda... he is a ****** though... I was the "Doctor Chan" to him... you can quote that but I doubt you will get any favour from him.

Brighton and Penfold Mazda have aggressive salesmen. Ringwood and Dandenong are basically all ok but they are too busy (no service for 15 minute) even a black 8 is in front!!!!

Where about do you live. I found both Brighton and City service is nice and Dandenong is helpful too!

I bought my car base on the service department and I have to say City Mazda is ace this way.

Pick my typo now Hymee

If i am free this weekend I will go to one store and ask for a quote.

I bought my RX-8 from City Mazda on Thursday afternoon. I'll pick it up next week, once the bank gets my cheque ready for me.

I bought a demo/showroom model, Titanium, cloth, with 10,000km on the clock.

I bought it for $52,000 on road. That's a saving of about 20% of on-road RRP.

I'm happy with that price; i's a great deal. Although with that amount of test-driving, it's basically a used car, there's not a scratch on it anywhere, and I know that no-one's ridden it too hard, no-one's every eaten, drank or smoked in it, and it's been servived every month or so since January 2004, when it was stocked.

Full judgment reserved until I pick it up next week, of course.

For the record, City Mazda were good to deal with from my perspective. I thought they were quite reasonable in settling a price on the car I bought that was fair to both parties.

Seen and touched and even sat on your car Lustre.

It is always kept clean and perfect in the showroom. Better than some other dealers.

I think you have a great deal mate.

You will be more impressed with predelivery and aftersale department.

Get them to check through and upgrade your PCM flash to "G" calibration before delivery... ask them for a Litre of replacement oil...

OH... while you are there could you remind them to stock up the Mazda rotary oil. They are scum if they try to put the Castrol mineral oil (apparently they are the same) to my car. Tell them the "Dr. Chan" is coming for service.... :D.

If you pick it up next Saturday, I will come to congradulate you as I am going in for service.

Once again welcome and congrad to your car and your first post here!

Taka

sorry to tell you Lustre, but a demo model usually does get driven hard.............by the mechanics, the salesmen after hours, and joy riders and prospective buyers.

Regardless, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

AMG: Well, I guess it just been nicely broken in. :-)

Fact is, if it's a lemon, I could sell it and get pretty much 100% of my money back.

And, as you say, I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway! The cars I've test-driven have been fantastic.

Lustre, I drove your car twice!....I walked into the showroom after the 8 won COTY and thought I'd check it out. 10 minutes later I was on my way home with the car to see if the kid's liked it!!! They practically threw the keys at me. I took it for a second drive to Essendon Mazda to see the red one they had in stock.

You'll be happy to know that it wasn't thrashed by me!!

Most of those 10000k's were put on it buy the showroom staff, who took it home most nights.

Enjoy....

Taka,

After a painful weekend of waiting, waiting, waiting, I went along to City Mazda this morning for another look and play, as well as to look at getting some options (entry floor-scuff protectors and drilled pedals) priced. Mentioned your name to Raymond and Patrick and a hint of recogition entered their eyes, before they sort of smiled and said, "We have a lot of Mr Chans!". But I think they knew who I was talking about; I called you, "my doctor friend".

They looked a bit confused when I said to make sure the PCM was reflashed/updated. They said it would be looked after when my aftermarket stuff (tint, security etc.) gets applied.

As to whether I'll be picking up the car on Saturday, I'm waiting on the bank. Hopefully I can get it before then (and, more hopefully, not after!). I'll let you know if it will be Saturday. It would be great to get your tips on things, since I've read your posts all over the board and you seem very cluey about the car.

Cheers,

Dan

I purchased my 8 ( leather pack) from Brighton Mazda last year and found them hopeless to deal with. They are supposedly the largest Mazda dealership in Oz, but certainly not the best in cust.service. I had to follow-up constantly on communications to confirm order date & delivery and then they stuffed that up as well. When I took delivery, the car battery was flat and needed to be replaced before I could drive away. Overall, I terrible buying experience.

I would try Penfold Mazda in Burwood.
