Thumbs up Answer From Mazda Re;power Output

In summary , australian cars differ in spec to american our manuals deliver 177kw at 8200rpm.

The australian spec car uses the european spec powertrain control module we measure our kw figures using the euro ECE ratingUS uses the SAE standard.

The cars sold in our market develop both the power and torque figures quoted and the proof , as always is in the driving.

Wheels magazine (August 2003 edition ) has put an rx8 through its paces recording a 0-100kmh time of just 6.4 seconds , only 0.2 seconds off mazdas claimed 0-100 kmh time despite testing the car with two people on board.

I am glad that MAZDA australia seems to be on the ball at least i got a reply to our queries .I am still going to dyno my car as soon as i have put the adequate mileage on it MOTOR ALSO supposedly tested the rx8 they came up with 6.99 for the 0- 100kmh.

Thanks Alistair for the prompt reply .

Well done Lock n Load good to see a response from Mazda.

I haven't been too worried about this issue myself but it is good to see an official response to our concerns. I really can't see them saying that unless they were very confident in their facts or .................... stupid!!

It will be very interesting to see how this issue develops in the States. I would also be interested to see how the Aussie spec cars stack up on the dyno.

Thumbs up

RX-8 Smooth yeah it was good of mazda to respond so promptly it has put a lot of people at ease , i wont be dynoing my car till i have done at least 5000km but i am not wooried .

The australian spec cars seem to be trouble free compared to the US ones , maybe in rushing to supply the US market they slipped on their quality control.
