The racing beat filter is apparently loud, that's why i'm not gettting it
I don't like loud so i won't get the pod but i would like to know if the K&n replacement is loud or not, before i put a deposit on one.

Off the topic...but i was wondering would it be a good idea to remove my k&n filter for the 10k service or is it ok to leave it?

Just let 'em know not to chuck $120 in the bin! It happens. They can only arc up over it if it can be proven that the filter caused a warranty claim. Same as if you use a Ryco oile filter. They cant force you to use the stock one. But they are allowed to use marketing to put the fear of God into you.

Cheers,
Hymee.

To answer the old question Hymee and skc

Yes it was the pod.

How is the K&N filter, skc? What is the part number for it btw?

Speaking of air filters anyone tried the Trust one?

http://www.trust-power.com/mazda/rx8.../airinx_b.html

I am looking at it. I think it looks the most interesting out of all the air filters on teh market, and in another thread somewhere RotaryGod commented that it seems to take into account the special tuning that the RX8 has in the intake system, thus it MAY MAY MAY actually give some real decent (for a filter :P) power.
None of the american guys can get it cause they have an oil filter on that side, its also much cheaper than the HKS or Autoexe one. Only works out to be about $500 over here in NZ.

Taka
The K&N filter I was talking about is in my wifes car. For me the verdict on installing K&N on the RX8 is still not in yet...so I will stick to stock for the time being.

Yeah...that was the first performance mod I carried out. Certainly better bang for bucks than a useless airfilter. C'mon you guys, do a search on "K&N".....I did one ages back, I think it was MazdaManiac who dyno'd a few and found no power gain. In fact, the car lost power with the stock air filter removed!

Save yer money fergodsakes.

Gomez.
