Aftermarket MS Kit

I was thinking of ordering a non geniune MS Style Kit from www.teamjetspeed.com.au who are based in QLD & NSW. They quoted $1230.00 + postage for the full kit from the QLD store, excluding the rear spoiler like Taka's. It's made from fiberglass & primed but not painted.
Has anybody used these guys before?
Not having added any mod to any previous car, what dangers i need to watch out for?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Rick

They are all copy kits. So their reputation of the co. and whether they provide you with a car that they have fitted before (with pic provided). That will be good.

The critical thing of such a kit is --- <FITMENT>

Try to talk to EZZY in Sydney. Eric (EZZY) has fitted one to our forum member 8a8y 8.
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...58&postcount=1

Ask Eric and 8a8y 8, especially Eric, since he is the expert in this area. Too bad that he is in Sydney :o Otherwise, I would have done what Philip (8a8y 8) has done.

BTW you coming Oct?

last time we checked with jetspeed in nsw, the MS kit WASNT one of there "off the shelf" items, so we got it from carmate. to be honest, i was very please with their quality and fitment this time.
check with them or xspeed (perth) to compare prices.

ask if you can return the kit if the fitment is "crap" (at their cost)

edit:

Great advice Ezzy & Taka as well. They do have them "off the shelf" now but i got the impression that that was a new thing. They also mentioned fitting the rear underspoiler can be a little tricky - so I'll certainly ask if i can return it if the fitment is crappy. Ezzy did you have that option with carmate?

That is very crude.... we do not wish that happens to Rick.

I think where he lives in a very low risk suburb in Melbourne. I wish I am rich enough to live there too

Taka

You have me all wrong. I wouldn't wish it on anyone either. I just think parking an 8 on the street is just asking for trouble...no matter how 'nice' your suburb is.

If you can afford an 8 you can afford a garage. If you don't have one, rent one nearby.

Well revolver,

I used to live in the city apartments and my car is in a large car park that people can really climb in! It is not safe either. The only safe thing is when the ground floor has a M3, GT3, DB7 and a Ferrari . No one will touch my 8 then :D

Why would i want to walk to a local garage - F*** that. and my house is a terrace house & to old to put a garage in, besides there are porsches, mercs, bmw's & even an old lotus esprit parked on the streets all around my place. If some wanka car theif did steal it - i'd just get another one, that's why i've got insurance,

Thanks revolver - i just did - I'm still interested in a kit though & i'm still gonna park it on the street too- and who is to say that the car would be safe in a garage - if they can steal this car, i think they could easily get into a garage.

Sorry to hijack Rix xxx :-/

Can I ask what it should cost or what people have paid to paint their rear spolier?

Andrew

Fair enough. Just a suggestion - I used to live at Bondi and heaps of people I knew rented garages from people who didn't have cars. Usually they were close to where they lived (like less than 50 metres away) and it allowed them to park good cars out of the weather and out of sight of opportunistic thieves.

I remember seeing an RX8 in a hospital car park earlier this year that had obviously been parked in the sun and weather all it's (short) life - it looked terrible - all faded and crappy. I just reckon garaging your car makes everything so much easier.

Also true - but keeping it out of sight makes it harder for them to know it's there.

As for getting in - love to see how they get past my garage door without a lot of noise and racket - it's been 'modded'! :D :D

Equally fair response Out of sight/out of mind for a potential car thief is a good suggestion, but then I've got Insurance so I'm not fazed.

As to the weather - i'm quite surprised that the paint would dull that quickly unless it was near the sea. I get it cleaned weekly & polished monthly so i should be sweet & I'm only going to keep it 3 to 4 yrs tops b4 i get another one (hopefully white) or the new rx7 that's rumoured to be coming out

This thing was (was being the operative word) red - it was really faded. Don't know if it lived near the sea usually - it was in the carpark of RNSH. I understand that red is particularly susceptible to fade but no doubt the spray painters out there will correct me on that.

And don't hold your breath for the RX7 - my mail from my service manager is that Australia may not get it at all. Hope he's wrong about that.
