Kas can you tell us your 0-100 kms times please so i can compare to my own rx8 with re tune.

 

For what it's worth, I've done plenty of these, and the best I can manage with a good launch is 6.9 sec. That's with DSC/TCS off and a 1-2 sec wheel spin launch from a 6K clutch drop.

 

6k is too high. try 4-4.5. its just enough to not spin the wheels and the car not to die in the ***. use plenty of clutch

 

Best figures I've heard is 5.9 with a clutch drop at 8k, have read that 8k is the rpm that gives the best launch (and worst clutch life)

Can you G-Tech guys do an accleration run with a defined start and end speed?

With my MR Dyno I have been doing runs in second gear starting at 40km/h and ending at 110km/hr. This gives me a power curve from about 3,400 RPM to redline. I would like to try 3rd gear, but would obviously go faster than I might like to risk being pinged for.

Doing a test this was helps take out a lot of other factors, such as launch, gear changes etc. I only started experimenting with it last night, but such a power run takes on average 6.0 seconds with my standard car.

When I learn it some more I'll post some graphs. I reckon it is a great tool. I also did some OBDII logging. In particular I was interested in the lambda readings (wide band O2). The car runs very close to stoichometric (14.7:1 AFR) in closed loop on steady cruise.

On a open loop power run the AFR goes into the low 12's, and I even saw it dip into the 11's at one spot. So it seems that the aussy cars do indeed run rich, and we should be able to improve things with ECU tweaking.

What I need to do is correlate the graphs I get from MR Dyno, and the OBDII data I have been logging.

PS. MR Dyno also allows me to enter the weather data for a correction factor. I have not used that yet. It also allows correction factors for chassis squat, but I have not measured that yet. It also allows measurements to be made to generate a drivetrain / windage losses curve for the vehicle, so flywheel kW can also be approximated. The sensitivity of the accelerometers on the MR Dyno is 0.00025 G's.

 

I've posted this some time ago but it still gives me cause for consern..

I regularly get a very strong burn stink when I work the clutch hard, often on the way to the office in the morning I toy with 2nd gear clutch slips to drift / step the back end out and I end up getting into my car space and powering down to smell a strong stink that I'm certain is the clutch and I'm not mechanical enough to know if I'm killing something of it it's normal for what I'm doing to the car but nothing to worry about [ i.e. I can have it replaced for money later when I finally kill the clutch? ]
