if you went to the cruise that we went to terrigal, then u should remember - should be a post while back that i had gotten a 2005 special edition back then... looks exactly like the shinka (so called) up there where gomez has posted, with the exception that i have automatic seat slide switch like the other rx-8's instead of the manual seat slide thingo, and no special key.. the very original same key. hopefully you'll remember me when i get to the march cruise.

3 weeks, as none of the dealers could find the paint at that time... this was almost 3 months ago? had to be sent from where-ever it was they ordered it from.

I guess I haven't been updating the forum lately and found this new 2006 Special Edition rx-8??

This is my Q - sorry for all the hassel here, but like i said, i've been away a little bit...

i guess the main question here is : what's the difference between the 2005 Special Edition and 2006 Special Edition? i actually own a 2005 special edition rx-8 (those who went to the NSW cruise in 2005 Sep, would remember me... hopefully... )

the only frustration(?) is that i seem to be the only one with the 2005 special edition at this time? do we have other people with the special edition? - i got mine 2005 May.
The only reason i ask is because i have had some issues with the car, and it took almost 3 weeks to get the paint for the so called "radient ebony" colour... hm... i hope i'm the only one having to go through this process.

anyway, great to be back on the forum.

will catch up with the NSW at the March drive, hopefully.

- Frank

yes, there are others who drive Shinka of 2005. I forgot who exactly but we had it at the Nationals.

Frankie, there's also a cruise this Sunday for the NSW crew if you can make it.

I'm on shift this Sunday, so i don' think it's going to happen...

March on i'll probably be on holidays - i'm hoping i can take about 2 weeks off before i move over to north sydney - so, should be all ok... and i guess from then on any weekend cruise will be ok for me as i'll be back to the normal 5 days shift again - no more of this 5-4-5-4-5-5 thing.

Thanks,

New Shinka Link

I'm not sure what the specs will be in Australia, but I ordered the 2006 Limited direct from Japan to Singapore.

Here's a link...

'P' Platers, yeah?

I've seen her around my town area few times, and had a quick chat as well... and that's the only other Radient Ebony car i've seen around town so far. Pity they will be killing the Radient Ebony colour for now... I kinda started to build up a little lust for it...

(does this mean it's going to be even harder to get the paints later?)

and the new key... hm... not "too" impressed... I'd prefer the originals...

Yea, theres someone whoz buying a copper red 8 from the au forum cant wait to c photos of it. Lurveeeeeeeeeeeeee red.
Many panel beaters have trouble matching colours on Mazda's especially.
This is why u go to a good panel beater, they will actually order paints from Mazda to get the exact colour ($$$), or you go to a less expensive and they will screw up the whole colour on the car.

According to one of my preferred panel beaters (well, he's a good 20 yrs mate of mine), winning blue is one of the hardest colour to match, so they usually order a complete new colour direct from mazda. apparently silver is one of the easier option, but black is obviously the easiest.

In my case, and apparently with the Copper Red, they have slight transitional colours in 'em - according to the japanese websites that i've been going through, and if the panel beaters to get the correct mix of colours, then those transitional bits will not show up any more, but will be a solid colour. - remember the 2005 shinka's have purple + orange + browny colour.

So, hope this explains why Mazda's are unique.

this is the first time i heard a "good" panel beater/spray painter had to order factory paint from the factory to be able to do a hald decent paint job.......
thats why there is a colourt code, and "good" panel beater/spray painter uses a good brand of paint and uptodate computer matching system.... oh and good pair of eyes

LOL I think Panel beaters should pass eyesight tests, intelligence tests and also competence tests :P

I've seen several panelbeaters who rush through prep work and end up shortening the life of the new paintwork for a couple of weeks before it starts bubbling up. Had this happen to a couple of my mates - although they are legally obligated to fix it, i've noticed they tend to have a line that they use over and over again i.e 'sorry mate, i'll fix it for you no problems, but i'm booked out for the next 6 weeks' ..

Most panel beaters are just as worse as mechanics :P we're just lucky we have Eric in Sydney who we can trust :P (i hope) hehe

I've just arrived home after having a good look over a new limited edition copper red "Revelation" here in Brisbane. I think the interior is fantastic ... it's a little darker in colour than it appears on the website (I thought), but it really opens the interior up. Makes it look a lot bigger and more "airy". A really nice alternative to the black leather or black/red leather (which I don't particularly like).

The copper red also looks great.
