Time for our final meet of the year.
This has to be a mad one. :ylsuper:

Now I finalize the date and run
Start from my new place in Kew ;) . I can show off my new garage. :boring:
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=64316&stc=1

Address: Old Burke Road, Kew East (go right to the end to meet us)
Melway reference 31 K12
Date: Sat 17th Dec
Time: 1000
Cruise: Down beach road to Arthur Seat by 11ish.

Bring anything to show anyone.

Anymore suggestions??

ILIV48 11-23-2005 03:46 AM

Saturday 17th lunch is good for me. Have dinner on that day already booked but it is on same side of town so lunch works really well.

Sunday 18th is out as I have my brother down from Canberra so we are celebrating an early family christmas that day.

Must check out the Stig's new garage as we all know he was looking first of all for the perfect garage and if it had a house that went with it, well that was a bonus :naughty:

yellowrx8inoz 11-23-2005 05:25 AM

17th works for me too

How about Flinders, or a Mornington Pen winery, for lunch?

Gomez 11-23-2005 01:02 PM

It would be worth one jet falling out of the sky wouldn't it. We are such a great fun bunch of people who would want to miss lunch with us :dunno: :dunno:

Thats bad news though. A real shame if you cannot make it... But understandable!

I am sure you mate would not mind swapping the new year weekend with 17th and 18th LOL.

How come you are working all though Christmas?

Anyhow, EmperiorJazzy and Kraize are you ok with 17th? Jazzy you still have your RX-8?

They are both excellent choices. I like the Arthur Seat better - love the road going up and down Arthur Seat. :mdrmed:

Very busy time of the year. I'll see what I can swing after you guys set the date.

auzoom 11-24-2005 12:42 AM

Gomez, what do you do?

I am fine for 17 and 18th, in the whitsundays the rest :-D

Andrew

timbo 11-24-2005 12:58 AM

Gomez is one of Santa's helpers ;)

auzoom 11-24-2005 01:14 AM

Well santa, auzoom wants a new spolier for his rx8 ;-)

Andrew

Haha....

I said he is responsible to maintain the high quality of the Virgin air-hostess. Or the design of their low cut brousers next year :D:

He apparently is responsible to make sure your flight to Whitsundays takes off and lands safely.

Oh combine with the .au site voites - 17th is way ahead. I will make 17th official if there is not much objection to this date.

Now.... is Arthur Seat good enough?

8000rpm 11-24-2005 09:45 AM

Count me in for the 17th.

ILIV48 11-24-2005 03:21 PM

Arthurs Seat is good for me. Great drive, brilliant view & good food!

auzoom 11-25-2005 05:31 AM

Yeah sounds good. How long will the drive be as I will have to have 2 rug rats in the back.

Andrew

takahashi 11-25-2005 03:03 PM

How long is to drive from Kew to Arthur Seat via the Beach road. About an hour? I know riding my bike will take a good 2 hours. The fun is to go up the Arhtur Seat.

yellowrx8inoz 11-26-2005 08:04 PM

I think an hour's about right. Will be busy on a Saturday so we should prob aim to get there earlyish for parking spaces with the view...
There's a great-looking drive loop from A's Seat to Shoreham and back, descibed in the latest RACV mag. Could do this after lumch.

takahashi 11-27-2005 02:39 AM

updated details.... 17th it is

astro 11-27-2005 05:30 AM

hey there... i wanna familiarise myself with the rx8 ppl in melbourne. 17th is fine with me.

takahashi 11-27-2005 06:10 AM

Welcome astro....

Would be lovely to meet you there.

RXVIII 11-28-2005 04:02 AM

I to would like to tag along and meet a few fellow 8 owners. How do we join in?

takahashi 11-28-2005 04:45 AM

Welcome to the forum...

ehhh I guess you have already signed up for it. Just come along and see the 8 at the end of the Old Burke Road.

Details in the first post.

auzoom 11-28-2005 05:01 AM

RXVIII was that you that I met on Johnston Street today?

Andrew

jormatom 11-28-2005 04:32 PM

This is all starting to fall into place for me. Initially the 17th was out, but after some reaaranging it looks on.

One of my rug rats has been invited to a mates birthday party on the day, but he wants to go for a drive with dad. How old are your 2 Andrew?

As far as the road to Shoreham and back, I have some clients up there and have driven it before. Well worth the time in the afternoon. Plenty of wineries along the way as well to re-fuel if needed. (obliously not too much)

My car is going to the panel beater next Monday to replace the passenger side mirror and fix some scrathches on the door. (watch out for your wheelie bins in your driveway) It has taken 4 weeks to get a mirror from Japan, including the time spent getting through our new whiz bang customs system. I will be getting my front guard which was attcked by some bast@rd fixed as well.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone again, and also having a close look at Stu's new "wheels".

Greg

Zen 11-28-2005 09:13 PM

Hi All, I've just joined so I'll see some of you guys on the cruise. I just got my new 8 last week (Sunlight Silver with fender streaks + leather) and haven't had a chance to run her in.

Welcome to the forum Zen..

It will be a perfect run to break in the engine. We never speed on the public road, since a lot of us go to track days regularly and we take our rage there :)

This is an opportunity to appreciate and admire our car... and prepare some question to throw at us. We know a thing or 2 about our RX-8s.

This post has been written for the gentleman in blue, who intends to wait for us en route. :)

My 2 boys are 8 and 6 and they also get along well with all other kids. Looks like they can keep each other company.

auzoom 12-01-2005 03:28 AM

CMon people, dont forget to cast your vote. Nice to see what sort of numbers we will have a quick glance.

Also, where, what and how are we planning on eating?

Andrew

takahashi 12-01-2005 09:52 PM

I guess anywhere at Arthur Seat. Any takers?

I think it is wise to book a table. Someone suggest a place and I will get on to it on Monday.

So far: 8000rpm, astro (?how many), auzoom (?3 or 4), ILIV48 (2), Rix Red8 (?2), RXVIII(?), takahashi (?2), yellowrx8inoz (?2), jormatom (?4).

Report number for booking purposes?

Lovely Gary, make sure you drive your RX-8 this time. ;). But then, who don't want to see your RX-7s....

Hey it is going to be the biggest meet ever.

We are equaling the Lake Mountain cruise we have early this year.

Come on guys - make it bigger and better. Pre X'mas chill out before heading off for your long trips.

I am going to find a bistro or a cafe around the arthur seat area. And make a booking for 20 at this stage. Will need to confirm number Thursday 15th. Any suggestion of location please tell me now. ;)

RIX 8 12-04-2005 02:42 AM

Hi Taka,
It will probably just be me this time...unless i can convince a friend to come along... :mdrmed: :jump: :dubs:

jormatom 12-04-2005 04:12 PM

Hi Taka

It looks like 4 for me.

ILIV48 12-04-2005 07:18 PM

Looking like it will be another good meet!

Thanks for RXVIII for the tips

Now I have worked out the route and the place to eat. :ylsuper:

I remember that the Rocks at Mornington is a very nice place to eat, plenty of parking and facing the sea. Menu for cafe luncheon is here

So we go AS and round before going to the restaurant (NO 29)
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=64350&stc=1

Qestion is clockwise (uphill to AS) or counter clockwise (downhill from AS) :hahano:

Attendent so far:
8000rpm, astro, auzoom, ILIV48, Rix Red8, RXVIII, takahashi, xatnep, yellowrx8inoz, Zen

dracoMJB??? GOMEZ???

yellowrx8inoz 12-04-2005 09:10 PM

Just 1 for me, taka (my significant other seems happy for me to pursue my car interests solo LOL).

I think uphill to AS would be best. I enjoyed that direction most at Lake Mountain, personally!

auzoom 12-04-2005 11:32 PM

And where is Kalli?

Andrew

Rosso Diablo 12-05-2005 01:08 AM

Make that one more Taka. Give me an estimate if what time you expect to cruise down Beach Road and I'll join the convoy there as I live in Black Rock.

Zen 12-05-2005 03:25 AM

Oh you going Beach Rd way? I live in Caulfield and am 15 mins from St. Kilda. Rosso you want to meet up with the convoy some where along Beach? I'd suggest somewhere near the Beaconsfield and Kerferd Rd intersection? Let me know, or else I'll rock up to Taka's place.

Zen

takahashi 12-05-2005 04:55 AM

Hi Rosso,

Cruise down Beach Road for sure... it is ALL ABOUT SHOWING OFF!

Hmmm I think BlackRock stop has to be the clock round about this it??? Beaconsfield road for sure. Just outside Max's La Knick's bike clothes and Kathy Watt's cafe will be great.

I think if we start at 1030 we will be there by 11ish.

Rosso I PM you with my mobile number.

labrat 12-05-2005 05:28 AM

Hmm, Mornington Peninsula....our old stamping ground. We used to live in Mt Eliza. We visited a couple of years back - it was our first long cruise with the 8. Didn't recognize the place, booze bushes everywhere.

takahashi 12-05-2005 04:43 PM

Made the reservation at the Rock but I found 3 problems :(

1. There is a $10 per head deposite. Money is not a problem (I can pay for it first) but I need a show of hand and numbers.

2. There is a set menu for Xmas; and they are charging $40-50 2 course and $60 3 course. I don't want people to commit for expensive dining when we are just cruising. I need your opinion.

3. I have a look through the menu and identified everyone's need. I remember that yellowozrx8 is a vegeterian and ILIV48 has a bloody strange taste for food (he eats nothing but chicken). ..... EDIT: have not asked if there is kids meal either.

I attached the menu and see how people like it. We can always book a cafe at Mornington main street but we will not be parking together that is all.

EDIT: Just found out that drink is not included... I will tell him to piss off - it is a :icon_bs: that we have to pay that much for a lunch. RIGHT?

Now Kalli is coming.. bringing her boyboy as well...

:beer05:

Zen 12-05-2005 05:24 PM

Taka, I'm comfortable with anything edible. Price is not an issue so whatever the group decides is fine with me.

ILIV48 12-05-2005 05:52 PM

I don't really want tp pay $40-$60 for a meal I probably will not eat. I vote for just a cafe where we can order what we like.

Doe's it really matter if we all do not park next to each other. Think of the positives... Now you will be able to seperate the little boy MX5 from the big boys RX8. I would hate Taka disecting your 8's to discover they had caught Pistonitis :puke:

Rosso Diablo 12-05-2005 05:54 PM

Excellent. Kathy Watt's it is. Taka I'll call you on the mobile at around 10:45. Anybody want to meet for a coffee at Black Rock at around 10:30 let me know.

auzoom 12-05-2005 06:07 PM

OK can we find somewhere to have a BBQ? Happy to make salads and so on for everyone? Can cater for vego/vegan if needs be.

Andrew
