Scanalyser driver

So, I'm trying to set up Scanalyser on my computer, and I'm not having much luck. I have a serial to usb adapter (no 9-pin serial port on my laptop), and I've switched to Com port 5 - it's the only one it finds.

However, when I go to connect, it times out every time. Whenever I plug it into the USB device, it is asking to install a driver. What driver should I install so that my computer can read this. Thanks for any help.

p.s. yes I've used search, and I'm contacting Hymee as well for help.

What COM port is the USB adapter configured on in Windows......that's the port you need to try and connect on

Go to Hardware/devices in control panel and check which port the USB Adapter is on

Hmm... it's set up for COM10. I know Scanalyser doesn't have an option for that... any idea how to change it?

*edit: Nevermind, I found it. Changed it to COM 2 and I'm heading back out to test it.

Woot, that got it! Thanks for the help.

Now... I need to replace my wideband. I learned that it's gotten gummed up and doesn't return a reading any longer. Oh well...

I had the same problems with my new laptop with the Scanalsyer and a usb to RS232 adaptor, spent god know how much time trying to find a com port that both of them would work on. Won in the end .
Word of warning, those cheap RS232 to USB adaptor hardly ever work, as I found out.
Isn't Hymee working on a usb type set up for the scanalsyer?

Could have been the laptop or the verson of Vista I got with it, anyway, I'm running an Asus laptop, window XP, and Advantech eAutomtion Usb to RS232 adaptor.
Work well on all Hymees products

My cheap crap works with both Vista and XP, 64-bit and 32-bit

its just that scanalyser doesnt work with 64-bit drivers. so I switched back to XP 32.

no problems whatsoever.

i downloaded the prolific driver for the usb/serial adapter, then went and bought one that came with an updated version of this driver - then got it to work only once
