UT Huge electronical problem. HELP!

So couple of days after a long trip, I tried to start my car and when I inserted the key in the ignition, all the dials in the dashboard, the fuel indicator, temperature gauge, techometer everything starting going crazy, left right up down, all lights were blinking as though it was at a rave party and then when i tried to start the car couldnt start at all. And then the lights started fading.. So I assumed it was due to low battery. Few days later my buddy helped me jump start my car and it was doing the same problem.

Can anyone help me? What is the problem?
And worst is I locked my only key in the car... Is there a way to open it? I have access to my hood area.

Sounds like a dirty/loose battery connection.
