Changing head unit?

So I've search the forums and haven't found anything about this.

Right now i have a 09 R3 w/bose and i am looking to change me head unit with the one from the GT. I've searched a few of the popular mazda parts websites and found non of them sell it. I want to use that one so i dont run into problems with no radio control on steering wheel and lcd screen. Does anyone know where I can buy one or find the next best thing?

I know some of you may ask why not just get a GT and the answer is...at the time i got my R3 it was the only one for sale at the time and it was getting close to of my banks low interest rate plan. So plz don't ask about that.

I dont get it .... are you looking to go to the GT navigation option? or trying to go from Bose to non-bose.

If the former, dont ... save your money and just get a solid aftermarket system. The dealer will charge you almost 1500 bucks on a good day for you to buy from them and they will install it to "comply with mazda warranty" BS. Trust me, days after I got my Sport I was on here researching about swapping to the navigation.

Damn, it's that horrible? I was briefly thinking about doing that to maintain my trade in value.

Try a dealer or OnlineMazdaParts.com, when looking for the unit most "parts people" don't know **** except what's on the computer... so they'll probably respond with "We don't have that option available"... just give then a VIN to a GT model with Navi 09+ and tell them you need the Navigation Head Unit.

Another example of "parts people" who don't know **** is if you try ordering an R3 body kit its impossible because they don't sell it as an accessory ..... So you have to give them an R3 VIN to order R3 parts.

I would strongly suggest just getting a Metra Kit with aftermarket Navigation...big price difference, but if you got the $$$ then ill help you out. You can thank me Later. I did this all through my DROID X phone in a couple minutes, so obviously you haven't tried searching hard enough. All thanks to OnlineMazdaParts.com. You might not need all the parts listed/pictured but I guess you find out when you take yours out/apart.
