Wrong oil??

Hello,

I am a new RX8 owner, and what a fantastic car. I have just topped it up with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10w30 oil. I have put around 700ml in the engine and run it for 5 mins. I think this is a big mistake after reading the manual, and comments on the internet. Is this a mistake? What should i do?

It's fine don't worry too much about it. I run Mobil 1 5w40 most of the year. You should search around this site a little and you will find a ton of threads on the use of synthetic motor oils...

It's really not that big a deal...if it eases your mind to do so then go ahead.

Why did you put synthetic oil in it when it comes with regular oil.

i live in athens, greece, and the dealership recommendation is 5-30 ...

bomber,
is it 5-40 for the UK? i 'm wondering, cause i would prefer the xtra peace of mind for the summer !!!

anyway, if you want, you can make 2 back to back oil changes so that the unwanted oil will flush away

tell your mechanic to empty the oil coolers too !!!

cheers !!!

I a have just bought 5-30w from my mazda dealer. I spoke with them about my oil situation and they said it should be ok if i just keep topping it up with normal oil.

The only oil they recommend is there own 5-30w mazda oil, which is reasonably price too.

If you are in a temperate climate that is a perfectly fine oil to use.
