Just about to change my oil are ther enay differences in filters? I can get a cheap one for £3.00 or a mazda one for around 3 times that? Which one should I go for?

Also how often should you change the oil/filter in these rotory engines?

Wow, Mazda is gouging you in the U.K.. Here in the US, the Mazda filter is about $5.

The Mobil1 filter is often mentioned as being good quality, and you can get one that is somewhat larger than the Mazda.

No, they are not all the same.

All that being said, I find it interesting to note that my old VW Beetle had no oil filter at all, merely a metal strainer. Good ol' 1930's technology. If one kept up with the other 1930's type maintenance (adjusting valve clearances, etc), the engine had decent longevity. So, how important is quality of one filter cartridge vs. another? I'm not sure but I don't agonize over it; I simply use the Mazda filter. If they quadrupled their price I might look for something else. Probably wouldn't touch the FRAM filters though.
