Angry Engine hesitation

I have an 04 rx8 with 54000 miles and bone stock. It ran fine up until a couple of days ago when it started to hesitate around 4k rpms. The problem went away but has now returned and is not leaving. This is through every gear. There are no lights coming in what so ever. Sometimes when it does this the engine dies. I then have to pull over and wait about ten minutes to restart the car. Any ideas?

Does anyone search anymore?
More than likely its your spark plugs, coils, or ignition wires but it can also be low compression.
When did you last have any of the ignition components replaced?

If you just bought the car, its unknown how well the previous owner treated it.
You can have the dealer pull up service records so you know what work has been done, but that may not tell everything.
Its a good idea to start fresh (especially with your mileage) with new plugs, wires, and coils.
Maybe even replace fluids (engine, trans, and diff) just to be safe.

If you want to look into upgrading the coils, BHR is a good suggestion (and they include wires with their coils).
BHR is a forum vendor here and a trusted name.
Not sure if it still applies now, but they used to give a discount on spark plugs with the purchase of their coils.

Dealer isn't going to be cheap.
You can buy the plugs for $80 total and install them yourself.
There are very helpful DIYs on this forum, so take a browse through there.

There are ECU updates that need to be done.

Read the stickies first then go to club meet.

After that ask some more if needed..

Shouldn't buy a used car unless you have a gaurentee from dealer it has been tuned up or private party shows reciept for tune.

Then negotiate.

First thing you always do on used car is.......................................

TUNE UP!

Absolutely already told them comin back in and they need to take care of the problem. They say it's been done but obviously not. As far as the ecu update do I just go to dealer and they do it free or they charge u for that? This extended 8 yr 100,000 mile war I'm reading does that follow the car by vin or do I need some kind of paper work. Thanks for the help guys good lookin out.

If the MSP16 recall has never been done, you will get one free ECU update.

For both MSP16 and Engine warranty status, you need to call MNAO to check it. give them the VIN and they will be able to check it for you.
