Condensation In Tail Lights

Every Time I Take The Rx To The Car Wash It Gets Moisture Inside Of The Tail Light Lens. They Look Foggy For A Week Or So Then Clear Up. This Also Happens During Heavy Rain. The Car Was Built 08-03 And I Bought It 09-04. Does This Occur On Other 8's?

It does on mine... but then again, my car was severely rear-ended and repaired. When I told the bodyshop guy about the condensation, he said that wasn't their fault; the taillight assemblies that they replaced are already sealed and they just drop them in.

I had the very same problem with my RX8. I took the car back to Mazda and they replaced both tail lights stating that the seals were bad. So far so good.

Same Deal

I noticed that if it rained recently the taillights would fog when the interior of the car got warm. After a couple of attempt I was able to replicate the problem at the dealership, and they agreed to replace it. I have already had my headlights replaced, so Mazda is batting 0% for lighting reliability.

Currently I have about an inch and a half of water in my driver side taillight. The dealer ordered me a new one and will be M flashing me at the same time.

Okay gentlemen. The reason that your tail lights are foggy is because if you shut the trunk very hard it hits the tops of the lights. Mazda will replace your leaky lights with new ones. They will also add a little rubber strip on top of the light to absorb the hit. I had my tails and head lamp assemblies replaced.

they are ordering a new set. I was in another thread and there was a link to a service bulletin issued for the trunk lid hitting the lights and bumper. I looked at the tail light housings and I don't see any cracks? I have to wonder that if the lights were not clear, this problem would not be noticable.

I also had about an inch of water in my drivers side tail light. The dealership replaced it with no problems.

hi guys and girls for most of you wro will replace for free.had the two HIDS replace because of discoloration and had the two rear tailights replaced because of condensation.year later someone rear ended the back and had them replaced for a second time.now there is a small bug in there that died near the key hole in the lens so if it don't leak or fog up i'll live with the little critter.your warrenty should replace most of the lens or head lights because the vender they had in the start of production had a bunch of bad ones from the start untill another vender was found.

04 GT, MT, 38K, Same problem

I had the same problem with mine so I took it to the dealership. I never realized how much water was in there until I saw the acceleration lines near the top of the lense. At the dealer they saw the TSB from Mazda and replaced it for free. They let the tadpoles and goldfish free in a nearby pond, and now all is well =)

Did your tail lights hold up for you all? I have had mine replaced at least 7 times (driver's side) and the last time it was replaced was 2 weeks ago and I will be damned - it is filled with condensation again! What the heck do I have to do? I love my car but absolutely hate the tail light problem! It is extremely annoying and not very attractive! Does anyone have any suggestions here? Going crazy in Florida!
