Broken Driver's seat back

I have searched everywhere I can to find anything resembling this problem. My seat back has broken about 2/3rds of the way up the back. It feels like it is hinged and the headrest can be pushed back and forth about six inches and sounds like it is ratcheting.

I took it to an interior shop and they said they could feel that the frame was cracked. Unfortunately I first noticed the problem when I got it back from the body shop after having PDR done on it and the window moldings replaced that were damaged by hail. I had not noticed any problem prior to taking it in and when I got it back, the top of the headrest was pushed forward about 6 inches and I could not put my head back all the way without hitting the top of the headrest. I could push it back out of the way and it would stay there.

I have no way of proving that it was damaged by them and they say it must have been weakened or broken before I took it in. But I guess I am stuck with paying for the repair.

The interior shop said that they have to take out the side air bag (of course) and that after replacement, the air bag usually resets automatically. If not, it will cost another $90 to reset it. Has anyone run into this and know whether it resets itself?

Thanks
