Hi. I'm not understanding how to read the airbag codes with what you provided. Mine flashes twice, then short pause, then flashes twice again, longer pause, and repeats this for a total of 10 times flashing twice & twice. How do I translate that with the codes you listed?

I have aftermarket driver's seat, and I have soldered in a 2.2 ohm 1/2 watt resistor, but I am getting airbag code 49 (four blinks, pause, nine blinks). Any ideas?

This is a brilliant thread. I had the light go on this afternoon on the way to the beach. I happened to be a few hundred meters from the dealer so I dropped by, figuring they were going to be shut for the next few days. Anyway, they read the error code and pronounced it was the passenger seat airbag. Said could be anything from a connection to a PCM module at $3k...

Anyway I read this thread, the first hit on my search, wandered out to the garage, wiggled the connectors around, heard an audible tick- and problem solved.

I suspect I knocked the wires when vaccuming the car for the first time in six months...serves me right for cleaning it.

Anyway, thanks to the community I am about to cancel the main dealer booking on Monday. Outstanding.

This thread was a life saver! I randomly got an airbag light then read up and found out the flashes were code for 2-3. Made sure all the connectors on the passeneger seat were secure and then the light went away. Funny thing is none of the connectors seemed loose, but physically pushing them together did the trick. Thanks guys!

I deleted your other posts of the same thing.

Get the code read at an auto parts store (or get your own code reader) if you can't figure out the flashing pattern. There will be an ABS code there that will correspond to a code in the list in the first post of this thread.

really need some help I have an 04 MT with 115k miles and just got done performing an engine swap a few months ago, car runs flawlessly. Anyway for the first month there was no lights on the dash at all. Then one day taking a 2 hour drive at cruising speeds on the highway out of no where my airbag light starts to flash. Long story short it blinks 1 pause then 9 blinks which if im not mistaken indicates driver side inflator 2 low resistance.

I have tried everything from what the internet offers to get this thing to go away. I have unplugged and cleaned the:

driver side airbag connector under the seat
passenger side airbag connector under the seat
the yellow airbag connector behind the glove box
steering wheel airbag module connectors
steering wheel clock spring connections
the clock spring connection coming from the car harness to the clock spring itself
lastly the 2 connections going into the SAS module

after doing all that the car still shows 1 then 9 blinks

I am a huge stickler for dashlights on, I like my cars being right with no lights. I also have read through this entire thread.

I took it to mazda and they came up with 4 airbag codes, they also could not determine what was wrong so further investigation would be needed starting at 2 hours of labor which is $186

last thing is that I have searched everywhere for where exactly inflator no.2 is, can anyone help with where inflator no.1 & 2 are on the driver side, Thanks.

Hello, im having this B2296 code with the 4-2 flashes on the airbag light and did check the front impact sensor connection infront of the air intake,is there any other connectors inside the cabin for example that i should check? Or another soloution maybe?
Thanks in advance

Just going to chime in on my experience. Hopefully someone has insight so a trip to the stealership can be averted.

I have an 05 Shinka. Took to the stealership for the Takata recall, and was told they had to install a "fix" and that Id have to come back for the airbag. Took the car back for the airbag install and now getting the 2+2 lights flashing then staying on on the airbag light in the dash.

Hooked my scangauge up and no codes?

Unplugged / replugged the connectors under both seats. No go. Took the glove box out and basically pulled and reconnected everything in there. No go.

I'm wondering does the key have to be in and in the "on" position when I do the plugging? I did it with the key out of the ignition, so dunno.

Just wondering if its normal to see the light flashing without a code, or does scangauge not pick those codes up?

Cheers!

Sounds like there is a revised harness for the airbag wiring under the seat. Does anyone know where to get that harness or is there a recall for it?

Hi,

I have code 12 from the airbag light. 1 flash then 2 flashes. Had a flat battery so took it off the car to charge. Back on and car fine on a drive. Then moved it and the airbag light came on.
Wondering if the battery going flat for a few weeks and then off could cause it?

Otherwise looks like a new SAS / airbag control unit needs replacing according to the codes! Bit odd as everyone else seems to report codes that need a connector fixing which is what I was hoping it to be.
I'm fine with replacing the control unit apart from it apparently needs to be programmed with the factory data for the car? Has anyone done this?
Any other ideas as to the cause?

Thanks!

All advice welcome!

Bump from the depths, but has anyone dealt with a '18' code before? Looks like it points to a faulty 'Passenger airbag off' light in the center dash display, but I'm hesitant to throw 500 bucks at a new display panel without knowing for sure it will fix the issue. Car is a 2009 R3

Update just in case someone stumbles on this in the future - a new center display panel DID fix the issue

•B1998 - Passenger's-side side air bag module circuit resistance high

This may indicate a poor contact between the terminals and the harness in the side air bag module connector. A revised overlay harness has been developed to repair this issue. This overlay harness will be installed over the existing main harness. Overlay harness installation requires cutting off existing air bag harness connectors and plugging in connectors from overlay harness and routing harness accordingly
check for dtc,s and let me know..i will tell you what to do.

i have these two codes in my 2006 shinka, as well as B2290 which isn't listed on OP's chart... could you by chance explain your post and tell me what i need to do to fix this? I can't pass inspection in VA with this right now.

Thanks!

I have the same blink code and the airbag off indicator light never comes one even when I have 15-20 pounds on it.

Can the indicator light be replaced, or does one need a whole new panel?
