RX8 Seatbelt Pretensioner Resistance

Hey All,

I'm rebuilding an RX8 after a crash where the airbags have deployed. The car is completely put back together and all the airbags have been installed and the airbag module was reset by a company in Texas.

The issue is now when I go to start the car, the air bag light comes on. This is because of the air bag/seatbelt tensioner that locks the seat belt in a crash. I've looked at ordering these from Mazda but they're over $250/each, so what I want to do is hook up a resistor into the circuit to basically bypass these seatbelt tensioners. I know this isn't recommended, but I have all the airbags installed and working and just want to get this car going.

Can anyone help me out and let me know what the resistance level is for the seatbelt tensioners.

Thanks

You would have to put it between the contacts in the wire harness for the pre-tensioner unit.....there should be 2

Hi all. My RX8 was backed into near the rear passenger door. The door was replaced by the panel beaters and the seat belt was replaced by Mazda. but every time the back door is opened the seat belt jams and the door cannot be swung open far enough to get into the back seat.
Is this the same problem you guys are having with the seat belt pretension device you are talking about.
any information on this problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.

No that's not a pretensioner problem.

I don't see how the belt can physically interfere with the door opening - can you post a pic?
