Coming back and getting some Mods...

I've been on these forums for years, I orginally had a 99' Protege with quite some work done(Msprotege.com). I desided on getting a new car and shortly after joined the US Army. So I am in Iraq now and will be coming back soon, and getting an itch to work on my 2006 RX-8 Sports Package - AT. I've looked and finally made a conclusion on my purchases. I would like to get some feed back on the parts and or opinions on the setup. It will be a daily driver... I would like to run FI sometime in the future, leaning toward the Pettit SC (hense mostly suspension and body mods).

Intake - Racing Beat REVi w/ Duct
Exhaust - Borla Catback or B&B Racing
Springs - Esplir
Sway Bars - Front and Rear Racing Beat
Strut Bars - Front and Rear Mazdaspeed
Front Bumper - Knight Sports Spoiler Type II
Side Skirts - Knight Sports
Rear - Mazda Rear Under Deflectors and Rotary Crest

Thats it for now until I get my next bonus from the Army...

If you get a Pettit then the RB REVI will not work correctly. Get a AEM and read the threads on the CAI. Yep, get Konis if you get the springs. MazdaSpeed strut bar will need to be modified to work under the hood with the Pettit (works and looks good). Get an extra oil cooler and a BHR radiator if not the radiator get a tranny cooler. Lots of other suggestions but they can wait until later.

When you did not list it I assumed you were using the Pettit flash. MM has done all my tuning since day one and now thru the AP.

Since you made the comment on the intake, would a Mazdaspeed intake work as well?

Yeah I figured I would get it so when I do go FI... As far as the parts I have listed I'm going to drop some of them so I can save for the FI faster.

I saw the Esmeril Racing Turbo kit, any knowledge on the AT with this?

The AEM is just a rebadged Mazdasport (or is it the other way round?). Anyway, AEM is cheaper, but AEM have now been bought out by K&N, halting production. So best of luck finding a new one, shouldn't be to hard...

The advise I was giving you was based upon the Pettit install. If you are now thinking of going turbo you need ask some one like 09 Factor as he is the turbo AT guy. Can't confirm the sale of the AEM or it's availability but it's design allowed for it to be a good CAI and a MAF tube for the Pettit if installed correctly.

I don't plan on going FI until I learn a lot more about this engine and more people have a solid AT SC or Turbo setup with more than 300hp. I've read about the tranny having no problems with 300hp but if I spend $6000+ on a setup, I want to have the power to take it to the track with good results. After I get the parts listed, I want to try for a sponsorship.

He already has a 6 speed.

I'm not going to start on the 'ground pounder' vs 'leatherneck' comment.

Now to the OP:

IDK how much you have read regarding the SC vs Turbo, since this thread was made , but look at this thread if you done so already.
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/power-adders-fi-dummies-turbo-supercharger-nitrous-122645/

you should be able to make 300hp. You have the same exhaust port area the 4ports AT's and 6port MT's have. You also have the same available fuel (CC's = 2100) as a 6port MT's.
Just a diffrent tranny.

It's all in the tune and how good your fuel pump is. I would reccomend to ANYONE that is thinking foing FI to replace the stock Fuel pump. It's a time bomb waiting to starve your motor.

I'm not here to make smart *** comments about what branch of the military I'm in or which transmission I have. I am here because I like cars... Over the years I've met a lot of Marines that went into the Army. One said to me " I would rather be one of the many and the paid, instead of the few and the proud... "
